Pompey say 8,000 home fans. I do hope it’s better than that.Unfortunately, home fans don't turn out in numbers for a game against lower opposition for a cup match. We had 680 against Whitley Bay in the Cup last season, and that included a good away support.
Sure they took more to Wembley the other year🤔
A total attendance approaching 9000 is, if anything, a bit more than I was expecting and a decent effort from Portsmouth.
Looking at the second round fixture list the only tie that I can see that may have more people attending is Bristol Rovers v Plymouth because its a West Country derby.
From Altrincham's receipts point of view I think that its the best possible tie you could have got.
I know that we (Pompey) will have been aware that its important to you, pricing of the match at £15 is probably maximising the shared revenue at the expense of another 1000 or so home supporters. (Our leasing.com match against Northampton on Tues is £10).
Our FA Cup second round fixture last year was on a Sunday away to Rochdale and attended by 2500 of which 600 came from Pompey (despite the match being on BT) for context.
I think whoever it was at your club (manager?) raising expectations of a 15 k crowd at this stage was probably a bit optimistic.
You are very welcome at Fratton Park and we will do our best to make a noise! It may not be a state of the art stadium by modern standards but in terms of traditional stadiums its pretty good.
Hi Pompey Paul.
Looking forward very much to travelling down to the game this Saturday to see your ground and a great match. I understand from seeing your team on TV that the atmosphere at Pompey is superb. As Alty fans are also noisy it should be a great game with a great atmosphere. The matches of this sort do not come to us very often but I have been to many matches in the FA Cup in my 45 years watching the Robins. This will be no different and I know your team will provide us with a good game and experience for our players. Our team have sprung surprise results in the past and I know we will give you a game.
Just curious to know what is the meaning of the bell played during your games. I have always assumed it is to do with Pompey's naval heritage, but I always heard it during games when you played in the Premiership.
We are a good bunch, very vocal and have a deep love of the game like your good-selves. See you Saturday!

I believe we're touching 700 but entirely unconfirmed.
Team picks itself with no Wall or Ceesay.
I’m sure we’ll see him again if he scores in a few games in a(r) rowThat would get him to (k)nock on the managers door.
Dual registered with Dudley Town or someone. He will never play for us.
So what you're saying is: Mr Archer failed to hit the mark and shot off down South.
Perhaps he was finding it an 'arrowing experience being in the frozen North. He may yet return to make his how at a later stage.
Anyone see a single attractive draw amongst that lot? Tedious cr*p or banana skins.
As we'll inevitably be away, then Matlock?
To be fair I can understand the complaints about the grey kit. It's not the most visible.
