I know I'm biased and would like our game to have been shown on tv but I really don't see how the Torwuay v Yeovil fixture is exciting to anybody outside the south west of England. I certainly have no interest in watching it and it annoys me that Torquay are being given another 75,000 to throw on top of their Setanta stash. Either our game or Havant & Waterlooville v Swansea would have had far more widespread public interest in my opinion.

Think it is known as a west country derby. Hence the interest.

(even if the bbc think thats still yeovil)

If I've got it correct mate Yeovil have knocked out one more league club as a non league side, of the current non league sides we have the most "scalps"

I'm sure a "Statto" out there will confirm if I have this correct.

Thought they would have shown 2 games on bbc and 2 on sky. Shame.

Yeovil have indeed a better record than us for giant killing, but they kindly got promoted and we got our crown back. Still, I cant see how this is a bigger game than ours. Garth Crooks was raving about the alty match, wish the producers had listened to him.

In fairness Teasy, whilst this would have been good for us this time round, I think urging anyone to ]listen to Garth Crooks opinion has to be recognised as a recipe for disaster in the long term and should be discouraged really.  :-X

Very true, normally i wouldnt touch the bloke, but when he mentioned alty i was smitten. Im coming to my senses now and realise that it was probably him picking it out that made them pick torquay!

I thought the two games chosen would just about shade it for the live games. Shame they're only showing one on each channel because either Alty v Millwall or Billericay v Swansea would probably be the choice for another game. Still i suppose we've got to be in with more than a good chance of extended highlights on match of the day. I wonder if our home record this season went against us when they were deciding who to put on live? I know we've got a fantastic giant killing history but one win at home against a team who haven't won away all season may have just swung it the other way.

I take no joy in being right, but I said the BBC would stay down south.

Being a commercial TV station, I can understand why Sky went for the Hereford v Leeds game (if that is the case)

last year bbc
forest vs Sailsbury

they always like a big league club with history vs a small club.

perhaps we are too big a club to be showed on tv  ::)

I'm getting tired of seeing Torquay on tv, they are on more than Liverpool..

I'm with a number of other posters who feel that Torquay-Yeovil is a rather odd choice. Derby or otherwise, it's just not a game that's going to get a lot of people interested. For one thing, Yeovil will stroll it and secondly, outside that particular region I can't see it capturing people's imagination.
Obviously, the Hereford-Leeds game is another matter.
