Well done the lads. I missed the game cos of work commitments but thanks to RR managed to listen to the game :)
So...who do we/ don't we want in R2 ???
-
Anyone, fear no one, just proved what we can do.
Excellent today boys, took our chance, and at times some heroic defending
Enjoy your celebrations boys you deserve it.
-
A local team from a higher league would be nice
Bury or Rochdale perhaps
-
Draw is Monday lad X
-
My top 5:-
Bury
Orient (nostalgia...we did them before)
Oldham
Rochdale (should have been relegated from FL in 1980's, but thats a different story)
Sheff Utd
My Worst 5 :-
Accrington
FCR
Salford
FCUM
Barnet
-
Anyone at home - Salford away would mean getting 400 tickets likeNotts County last night.
-
I fancy Hartlepool at home. We did them last time.
-
Vics at home pleaee.
-
A struggling L2 side at home would be nice, should get us a live game and a decent chance of progressing.
Hartlepool
Yeovil
Stevenage
Newport
Dagenham
Dont fancy a home tie against any of the remaining non league sides, less chance of TV, few fans and we dont play as well against these sides.
If its an away draw, then a big club not too far away as gate receipts would be big.
Sheffield Utd
Bradford City
-
Definitely NOT Stevenage ! They apparently destroyed Gillingham yesterday, and are traditional giant killers themselves. Morecambe should beat Dagenham so we don't want them either ! Newport are on the up at the moment too.
-
The problem is Newport arnt through they play are friends Brackley I wudnt want them either
-
Northwich anywhere
-
Vics at home or pompy away
-
Home tie I'd like vices if away Cambridge
-
A struggling L2 side at home. Potentially One game away from City or United now so the draw that gives us the best chance of making the 3rd round.
-
If you look at out big 3rd round successes
Everton away was preceded by Gateshead united home and Spurs away by Droylesden away. There is an argument for "just get to Round3". But as it goes we won't get to choose!
It's great to be back in Round 2. - this type of thing is the catalyst for the supporters who will be the boring 50 year olds in 30+ years time. "that old codger is going on about Damen Reeves again"
-
As we won't win the FA Cup (more bloody failure for some to bleat on about!), it's all about the media profile, the glory and the hard cash. Round three is where the big dosh kicks in when you talk about playing at City, United, Arsenal etc.
-
First round proper onwards i would want as big a name as possible. More chance of TV, media exposure, gate receipts. If you win you have the glory. Yesterday was like that to a degree.
If we can beat bigger clubs, smaller clubs can beat us. More to lose in one respect.
-
Bob - Just wondering if the poor performances in the past few years at the smaller clubs hit a nerve somewhere within Lee and the club as a whole. Yesterday was superb, in contract to the nonsense served up at Trafford and Blyth,

Perhaps, or is it the case that our style of play suits us against better teams who are not in your face and let you have some time on the ball? An extension of our league form.

I would say both points are correct there. Dont forget we played very well against Burton also.
-
Stourbridge at home or failing that, one of the bigger teams away
-
Great result yesterday lovely finish by Damian superb run and shot by Ryan as for the 2nd rnd who cares at home
-
Whitehawk away would be a bad one, good side and a long trek to Brighton , wouldnt want them at home either.
