Altrincham FC First Team / Pat McFadden
« on: February 04, 2009, 11:08:00 PM »
I'm really surprised by this - I thought he would do well there.

"Former Altrincham striker Pat McFadden (right), who made 40 first-team appearances for the Robins before his departure last season, has left Vauxhall Motors by mutual consent, after finding his first-team opportunities limited at the in-form Blue Square North club. Pat, a graduate of the Altrincham reserves set-up, hit 30 goals in a season for Neil Brown's team to force his way into the Robins' first-team squad. Hopefully he will soon be back in goal-scoring action."

Altrincham FC First Team / Brilliant, just brilliant!
« on: February 04, 2009, 09:51:12 PM »
"There was a flashpoint when Lee Elam clattered his former team-mate Chris Lane very late. Lane reacted angrily and had to be restrained from setting about the Northwich man who received a yellow card (57 mins). It was Elam's third booking in his three games to date with the Vics. Chants to the ex-Alty man to the effect that his trousering of an allegedly large pay packet at the Vics was the reason their club being in financial trouble were amongst the more printable ones aimed in his direction by the Popular Side (57 mins)."

Love the careful choice of words, absolute genius!

Altrincham FC First Team / Today's Alty trivia question
« on: February 03, 2009, 10:03:58 PM »
When was the last time Alty completed a league double over Northwich?

(I don't know the answer by the way!)

Altrincham FC First Team / Derby Day match thread
« on: February 03, 2009, 06:28:46 PM »
I am so up for this. Just wish I could be there, but good luck to all the lads tonight. Give it every last ounce of effort and play like we know you're capable of!

Hark now here, the Alty sing,
The Northwich ran away!
And we will fight forever more,
Because of derby day!

Altrincham FC First Team / Away following tomorrow night
« on: February 02, 2009, 01:12:32 PM »
According to a couple of posts on the below thread there could be under 200 Vics fans in attendance tomorrow night. If this is the case, that club is even more on it's arse than I ever previously thought!

Altrincham FC First Team / Channel M footy show last night

During the footage of the lads training there were a couple of black guys amongst the group. Anyone know who they were as I didn't recognise them as current squad members?

Altrincham FC First Team / The one game we didn't want him to miss
« on: January 26, 2009, 10:41:12 PM »
"It has been confirmed that Alty midfielder Shaun Densmore.....has received a one-game suspension, following his fifth booking last Saturday, starting on 31 January so he misses the match against Northwich Victoria next Tuesday as Alty have no game this weekend."

Gutted!

Altrincham FC First Team / CSC Final: Altrincham v Nantwich Town

So, it's a repeat of last year's final then. Let's hope we do the business this time!

Altrincham FC First Team / Website updates during games
« on: January 17, 2009, 12:05:24 AM »
See official website for full details.

I just felt the need to comment though, how amazing is it that in less than 5 years we've gone from playing in the Unibond Premier League, a media blackout zone, to playing in a league where we get live tv coverage, highlights, radio commentary of most games and now website updates direct from the game as well!

How things have changed!

5 point deduction and a £500 fine.

Where is the consistency? This league is an absolute joke!

Altrincham FC First Team / The SOS fund

Is it possible to give an indication of how much has been raised so far? Would be interesting to see the level of interest this has stirred up.

Altrincham FC First Team / Mansfield Predictions
« on: January 08, 2009, 01:33:41 PM »
Lawton and Denham are both fit for Saturday, as is Danylyk, which is great news. No Elam or Smtih though.

My expected lineup:

Coburn
Lane
McGregor
Young
Doughty
Densmore
Lawton
Danylyk
Peyton
Johnson
Little

Subs

Senior
Ralph
O'Neill
Meechan
Denham

Mansfield 2-1 Alty
                      Senior

Att: 1,784

I think they will be very solid, their home form belies their lowly position and I would be delighted with a point there.

Altrincham FC First Team / David Burns
« on: January 03, 2009, 05:16:03 PM »
From the official site:

"The Board of Altrincham Football Club are very sad to announce that club director David Burns passed away yesterday afternoon, having fought exceptionally hard through a long illness. David joined the Altrincham Board in May 2007 and made a major contribution to the Football Club through his financial expertise and exceptionally sound business acumen.
David had previously been the Chief Executive of The Football League and until recently was Chief Executive of the indoor ski centre, Chill Factor-e, next to The Trafford Centre.

David leaves behind a wife, Jane and two children.

The thoughts of everyone at Altrincham F.C. are with Jane and her family at this sad time.

Funeral arrangements will be announced next week. "

This is very sad news, sincerest condolences to all his family.

It will be interesting to see if the S.O.S. scheme bears any fruit. It would be great if the fans were able to make this kind of contribution and see a real benefit on the playing front.

Personally, I would think it would be a loan player if anything at all but I doubt it will be Lewis Chalmers (as great as that would be). We badly need some cover in central midfield!
