This is now our longest enforced Winter break for years....
« on: January 05, 2010, 05:06:17 PM »

21 days have now elapsed since our FA Trophy replay victory over Wrexham at Moss Lane.

Previous periods of inactivity due to inclement weather:

(i) 2001/02 season: 20 days

22nd December 2001: Droylsden (H) to 12th January 2002: North Ferriby (A).

(ii) 1996/97 season: 20 days

28th December 1996: Bromsgrove Rovers (H) to 18th January 1997: Gresley Rovers (A).

(iii) 1981/82 season: 20 days

12th December 1981: York City (A) to 2nd January 1982: York City (H).

(Mind you, how on earth that FA Cup Second Round tie at York City was played, I'll never know.
The pitch at Bootham Crescent was frozen....as, indeed, were the spectators by 4.45pm....).

John King's description of a crunching tackle on Ossie Ardiles in the FA Cup Third Round tie at White Hart Lane: 10th January 1979.
