Good opportunity to bounce back, it won't be easy. I know Brian in the match report stated there would be changes to the line-up, so will be interesting to see what Parky does.. Personally I think they need to redeem themselves, and see little change coming. Interested to see how we perform.
-
Is Jordan Hulme OK to play after coming off on Saturday? I hope so.
-
I think it's our best eleven and we should stick with it unless there are injuries. Coming through a bit of adversity together and getting a positive response would be good for team togetherness too.
-
We went very flat after the two quick goals. We're as fit a squad as we have ever been, I want to see us come back with a positive mentality from the start.
The only change may be in goal if Tony isn't fully ready.I
Come on you beauties.
-
There's definitely a strong argument for keeping the side together and not over-reacting to the first adverse result for a while.
Having said that, some current fringe players like Josh Hancock could also do with some minutes.

Just listened to Parky's interview, he wasn't happy. Said there will be changes and sounds like Eddie Jones will be away on international duty, so White will be in. Other than that will be interested to see the team we put out.

That in itself is a little bit concerning for me - I thought over-tinkering probably ended up prolonging our poor form over the winter.
Kozzy's shot sails in and we could be talking about a very different outcome - the team is still new with each other and there will be bad days at the office.
Let's hope to dear God he doesn't end up over-respecting them tomorrow night, just like the Stockport debacle - thankfully Digie can't be involved.
We've got to play to our strengths.

Yes. After our recent strong displays to banish any lingering relegation fears we were probably due an off day & we got that at Southend. I don’t see the need for wholesale changes but with 3 games in a week & the 450 mile round trip on the weekend it’s inevitable 1 or 2 might come in. Fond memories of Hancocks superb late BCD winner vs them at Moss Lane last season so he could be a candidate. Will be interesting to see our level vs a top team as well, County & Wrexham basically strolled past us here at Xmas without breaking sweat, hopefully we will make Chessy work a lot more. Whilst we got a fine point too at their place, our starting XI tomorrow will bear very little resemblance to that team so can’t look into that too much & I recall they were in the midst of an injury crisis at the time too.
Very hopeful too we might break the 2k gate barrier tomorrow, reckon they’ll bring about 800 so just depends if we can get a solid midweek turnout. Lots of focus on Aldershot being NL day & the lottery tickets offer so hopefully are more casual fans don’t forget we’ve got a game tomorrow first!
-
No idea what changes there will be, but it will be a tough game. Hoping for a 2K plus crowd and a decent showing.
Alty 1-1 Chesterfield (Mooney)
-
I'd rip your arm off for a draw vs Chesterfield then a win on Saturday! 🙏🤞
-
Maybe Moult in if fit?
-
Chesterfield will bring quite a few I reckon.
-
Nice evening, big opposition - there will be well over 2,000 I reckon.

According to their forum they've sold 6-700 tickets and expect 1-200 to pay on the day.
-
According to there forum they have lots of first choice players injured. At least, that's their excuse for falling behind Stockport. I am looking forward to tonight. We were a match for them at their place and we've made some significant signings since then

Ah - well then maybe it'll be closer to the 2,000 than I thought (might get to the bar quicker though) ;D

I would say not many floaters will visit twice in 5 days, especially when it's BOGOF on Saturday, so I'd imagine 1600 would be closer to the mark in the ground, propped up by ST holders inflating closer to 2k.
-
The combination of good weather and a relatively easy drive over from Chesterfield, makes me think that they'll bring plenty with them this evening.
Difficult to predict the outcome as they looked very good in the first half when we played them at their place, before relinquishing their lead in the second. I'd be very happy with a draw, and delighted with a win.
-
Thought I was feeling a bit under the weather. Just tested positive AGAIN!* 😞 So no game for me tonight (or weekend).
Please try and win this one for Saughall!
*bet it's the pesky grandkids again! 😲

Get well soon, second time wasn't as rough for me but does continue to linger months on. Plenty of rest!
-
We should not have changed the team Saturday and let's hope we don't tinker again tonight unless enforced

Thanks, AF. Best tonic for me would be a positive result tonight.
-
aye get well soon, and same for me a win tonight would be my best tonic
-
You're in the lurgy club too eh Harold?
Get well soon yourself then!
Plenty of rest is the order of the day and, if possible, avoid stress (!)
Is that possible for Alty fans? 😂😂
-
Cooper, Jones and Hulme out; Ferguson, White and Hanks in. Let's see how that plays out.
Come on you Supers!
-
Tony Thompson (c), Dan Mooney, Elliot Osborne, Josh Hancock, Ryan Colclough, Matty Kosylo, Andy White, Harry Perritt, Kyle Ferguson, Toby Mullarkey, Isaac Marriott. Subs: Jake Moult, Jake Cooper, Ben Pringle, Kole Hall, A-Jay Leitch-Smith.
-
As Mrs S just said to me, they're not called the Supers for nothing!! 😉
-
Heck of a result, rode our luck at times but that's life.
Looking at the table Stockport are now ten points clear with a game in hand. It is their championship to lose now.
I managed to turn into RR at halftime for a chilling interview with "Ukranian Phil".
-
Hell of a result. They really earned it. Soaked up so much pressure. Tony was awesome. Must see the goal again. It looked like the biggest bobble ever.
-
I thought Kyle Ferguson was exceptional tonight. Didn't let himself get bullied, in fact I would argue he bullied their big lads

Kyle Ferguson was brilliant, and a special mention again to Matty Kosylo who has made himself undroppable recently.

In that case I’m glad we won.🤪

I'll rip it off anyway if you want RG! 😂😂
What a fantastic result!

Fantastic effort by the squad tonight-hard work, discipline, shape-it was like watching a Graham Heathcote master class from the 2005-2010 Conference National era. Our winner was lucky of course but big spending Chesterfield still had the entire second half to get back at us & we held them off comfortably. Big mention to Kyle Ferguson who I think made his full debut tonight & was top drawer at CB alongside Toby M. Now onto Saturday & an Aldershot team who look a real mess, let’s keep the run going.

Aimed for a divot with expert eye. Superb skill.😀😀😀

I agree. He looked very good. Young Kohl Hall looks very interesting. I watched him in the warm-up and he looks like an instinctive finisher. During his short cameo he didn't look out of place at all.
-
A fantastic result against one of the High Flyers in this league. The back 4 were immense, a special mention for Toby Mullarkey and Kyle Ferguson who we’re both very impressive. Kossy was deservedly made MoM. Happy for him especially as the game was in support of the Ukraine, Matty always runs his heart out for the team and has now established himself as a regular in the first team.
Marriott and Osbourne in the middle are good together. Colclough and Mooney do their thing.
We again played at a great tempo and we’re in their faces from the off.
When we play like we did tonight we are a match for anybody in this league.
There are now a lot of players in the squad who I would be very happy to see being retained for next season.
Superb effort Lads.
Onwards & Upwards
PS A fantastic turnout by the Chesterfield fans on a Tuesday night. I love seeing that away end rammed.
-
A very disciplined performance and a most enjoyable outcome.
Kosylo was superb and he deserved that stroke of good luck for his goal after the misfortune of seeing that fine shot at Southend last Saturday strike both posts and stay out. It reared up off the pitch like a Michael Holding bouncer in 1976 (our new surface definitely paying huge dividends there)!
Marriott also caught the eye with another tenacious and combative display in central midfield. Hats off to the back four, too, including a special mention for that superb clearance by Andy White in the 89th minute.
Chesterfield look to be operating at several echelons below both Stockport and Wrexham. I thought that they were workmanlike and lacked both flair and flamboyance in attack. Quigley was about as mobile as a grand piano with Les Dawson sitting on top of it and Asante was truly wasted on the left flank. Marvellous to watch us Ukraine on their parade.
-
a clean sheet win against the team in 2nd place a fantastic result, which lifted my spirits after my gall bladder removal last week.Another win on Saturday will really do us good.
-
One of the biggest things I was worried about was how we'd cope beyond Tom Hannigan and Jake Moult - and thankfully I can start to actually see it now.
-
I echo all that's said above by everyone, great team spirit tonight and 100% effort from all. Matty's energy was boundless, deserved that bit of luck with a good shot bounced higher than the keeper expected (whom dived to early) and couldn't adjust. Deserved that as a team after his shot hit both posts and came out on Saturday. Thought Ferguson slotted in well with Toby. White was blowing most of second half but didn't stop him as he gets match fit. Should have had a penalty 2nd half as Ryan was dragged down. They were very direct, theatrical, physical etc, but kept at it to prevent them scoring for the first time since Sept. Still smiling this morning.
-
Will say it time and time again. Just shoot. You're unlikely to score if you don't.
Thought Fergison was class, Thompson grew in the game after a shaky first half.
So Phil, can we compete with teams or not 😜. Roll. On Saturday.
-
I would hope we are offering contracts now for next season given that the 2 years are running out for a lot of players. Ferguson was amazing last night. If we have the money I’d like to see us buy Perritt and Cooper too. With that starting 11 last night (Hulme in for Hanks) and a few shrewd summer signings we could finish in the top half next season
-
I noticed Jordan was working with Radio Robins. Did he give any indication what his problem is?
-
Really good second half performance. Really stepped our tempo up.
Everyone put in a graft but special mentions to Ferguson - solid against good forwards and gives us some needed height, Marriott - he is becoming one of the first names on team sheet and Kosylo, who was immense and was everywhere. The No.10 is position is currently his to keep.
Liked the look of Hall when he came on. Played like a Paulo Wanchope.
-

I think it was suggested elsewhere that it was concussion after the whack on the head first half at Southend.
-
Re Jordan, speaking to someone in the bar at HT who had a word with him, apparently it wasn’t concussion after Southend as assumed but he got a whack in the face & it’s to do with his jaw. Apparently not clear yet if he’ll be available for Shots Saturday.
-
Thanks. I hope Jordan gets better soon.
He's always strutting around on he pitch with his chin stuck out! :D
-

Jordan went off with concussion at Southend. Hopefully, he'll be back to terrorise Aldershot on Saturday.

The Wanchope - Dickov pairing was a great striking combination
-
All been said above, but a fantastic performance and what a battle against a physically strong side.
-
just watched the highlights on Alty TV and that was some bouce for Kosy's goal.
-
I know, it was like the Barnes Wallis bouncing bomb.
-
Nowt the keeper could do. These things happen.
-
Expert aim from Kossy. Discussed the plan with the groundsman beforehand and executed perfectly. 😔😔😔
