Got a big plug Sunday morning from Jimmy Wagg on Radio Manchester.

Fair enough I suppose but Sunday morning was a bit late in the day for publicity. Other than Alty fans I doubt many people were aware the event was even taking place.

I'm not knocking the organisers or their respective causes because I know a lot of hard work went into it.

Unfortunately, this Charity Match was also to help towards Altrincham's Fund Raising. There were very few Altrincham fans there. So this is more money we've got to raise somewhere else.

The attendance was about 230 it was adervetised on the fixture boards outside the ground and all Goodwins coaches had posters on the sides and back

Unfortunately, these are difficult times for people financially and we seem to continually ask the same people to put their hands in their pockets, which with the best will in the world is going to mean people pick and choose which events they attend/support. Some people can't even afford to attend every first team fixture at the moment and (as I believe was mentioned at the supporters group meeting) it is imperative that we look to cast our net wider in terms of the people we try to involve in our fundraising activities.

Like I said above, I realise a lot of hard work went into putting this event on but the bulk of the publicity was aimed at regular Alty fans which was always going to have a limited response.

Not wanting to start a fight but there was only about 30 Alty fans thier the other 200 must have seen the game advertised somewhere

Good marketing is not rocket science, you just have to reach people. Posters at the ground, banners on buses and a quick plug on Radio Mcr is not really getting there. Posters all over the area, approaches to schools and regular plugs on the more popular local radio stations plus a mention or two on the local TV news would have made a difference. Bearing in mind the cause involved an approach to major cancer charities wouldn't have done any harm either. These people know how to do this stuff.

That's fair enough Darren, I'm not falling out with anyone.

I just don't see why the fans of the club should be frowned upon for the low attendance. Everyone is skint at the moment, it's as simple as that and the same people can only do so much.

Like Alty365 said, we are in hard times, People just can't afford all these extra fundraising events, it's hard enough trying to get the money together to follow the team home and away which is a lot of peoples priority. I've supported lots of fundraising ideas over the years, but with a mortgage to pay and a team to follow up and down the country, it just isn't as easy as it used to be.
