EDDIE RETURNS TO MARINE
« on: February 25, 2007, 03:30:04 PM »

From www.altrinchamfc.com :

On Friday, "Unibond Premier League Marine F.C. announced "the signing today of former Mariner and fans' favourite Eddie Hussin (left) from Conference North Leigh RMI. Midfielder Hussin, 29, joined Leigh RMI at the beginning of the season after playing at Altrincham in the Nationwide Conference since he left Marine in 2004. Hussin joined Marine initially in the 1999/2000 season and helped the Mariners win the Northern Premier League Cup before his departure to Altrincham. Marine Chairman Paul Leary said: 'This is absolutely great news for Marine fans. The signing of Eddie is a real coup for Marine and his arrival couldn’t be better timed. His experience and passion will make a huge difference and I am thrilled that he has rejoined us'. Marine Manager Alvin McDonald said: 'I am really pleased to have had the opportunity, at such a crucial time, to sign Eddie. We have worked hard to sign him and I know that he will provide that extra drive in midfield. His signing will hopefully prove to be influential in the remaining two months of the season as we continue with our push for a play off position'".
If this does prove to be Eddie's departure from Moss Lane for good, after what was a type of loan arrangement at Leigh RMI, it will be appropriate to remember the vital role that the midfielder played as team captain in getting Altrincham into the Conference National during season 2004-05. Playing through injury, Eddie eventually had to have a cruciate ligament operation after the Play-Off Final in summer 2005 and was out of action for the whole of the next season. He recovered to make three substitute appearances in Conference National this season before going to Leigh. In all, he made 51+4 appearances and scored 5 goals, including his famous "Hand of God" effort. All at Altrincham will wish him very well for the future and will thank him for his magnificent contribution to the Football Club's development.

If this does prove to be the end of Eddie's Alty carear, I would just like to say thanks for the memories and good luck for the future. You will be fondly remembered by the Alty faithful.

If he doesn't return,he should be put in the same legendary bracket as McKenna.Only played for the club for a short space of time, but made such an impact. It is a real shame, because if there was one player from that promotion side that deserved to test themselves at Conference level,it was him.Good luck for the future Eddie.

A legend indeed, to play through a career threatening injury like that for the cause is humbling to consider. Best wishes fella wherever you go and whatever you do.

a true alty legend. thank's for all the effort you went through to help us into the confrence leve, no-one deserved the chance to play for us at this level more than you. i hope to see eddie back at moss lane either in a friendly for marine or as an alty player so we can show him how much we appreciate the drive he showed in getting us promotion.
THANK YOU EDDIE

To me Hussin is a name Alty can be proud of, Stoke was my greatest day as an Alty fan, and he is one of the main imprints of the day on the whole!

From Helsinki to Cannes his name rings pride for the Altrincham cause, good luck eddie you're a legend no matter where you go!

It is such a terrible shame that Eddie had such a critical injury. he would have done us proud in the Conference, but never really had the chance.

Good luck Eddie!

Who know's, he may be back one day.

Have to agree with whats been said.

A player that Altrincham FC can be proud of. He is what all players who put on a red and white shirt should be like.

100% committed to the cause and never stopped running for the club.

LEGEND !

Just the sort of player we'd need in the conf North if we did get relegated. His God like qualities like the hand of Eddie and scoring goals in off the hoardings will always be fondly remembered along with his gutsy 110% commitment to the Alty cause.

Agree with all the above 100%.  A true Alty legend and a man who played through the pain barrier on so mnay occasions.  He shouldn't have been able to walk never mind run half the time and he never ever pulled out of a tackle.

Marine have got a good one back there.  Eddie should always be welcomed back to Moss Lane (and all his family who were lovely people)

I'm so sad to hear that Eddie has gone. A fantastic bloke on and off the pitch and it's a crying shame that injury deprived him of a crack at Conference football. I hope he'll be back at Alty one day soon because he brought so much to the team. His contribution to our playoff sucess whilst badly injured epitomises his big hearted approach to the game.

Thank you Eddie for all the great memories and good luck in your future career. You'll always be a hero at Alty!

According to the main site Eddie will be welcome back anytime he feels it would be right, how fantastic would that be. :)
