RED MONDAY - Monday 16th January 2017

This Monday is officially Blue Monday. And in true Altrincham style we're turning it red.

Blue Monday is traditionally the most depressing day of the year - given its distance to pay day, poor weather and numerous other factors - BUT Altrincham FC's social media will be giving away restaurant vouchers, bar tabs and numerous other prizes in a bid to cheer up our town.

The current list of prizes stands at:

- £20 Betting voucher
- £20 Betting voucher
- A copy of Football Manager 2017
- £20 Orange Tree Bar Tab
- Bistro Pierre Meal and Wine Voucher
- The Old Hall Dine and Wine vouchers
- 4 Yoga Session voucher at Altrincham CSH
- Altrincham FC Shirt
- Altrincham FC polo Shirt
- Burrito Picante voucher
- Burrito Picante voucher
- Burrito Picante voucher
- Cosmopolitan voucher
- Weekday breakfast voucher at Kings Court Cafe
- Sugar Junction Altrincham voucher

With more still to come...

Stayed tuned to our @AltrinchamFC or Altrincham FC on Facebook for a chance to win a voucher every hour from 12pm on Monday.

Over 105,000 people on Monday with the name of Altrincham FC (probably more)

Any feedback on what we can do with social is great fully received and we'll try and put it in to action

I think we should make more out of the fact we're the worst team in the country? Hyde did. It makes us a novelty, and you don't know who might be watching wanting to make a difference, grass routes investment and all that

I agree with Jamie, Hyde have got 33.5k twitter followers mainly due to the self deprecating humour they used the other season. We are far worse record wise, might as well make use of it.

It's something we've considered to an extent, but I don't think it's wise to have the club become some internet novelty. Hyde went viral because they had an absolute idiot on their updates, coupled with their horrendous season it was a recipe for laughing at... NOT with. If it isn't done right it would come off very, very tinpot.

I think a degree of dry humour in the form of tongue-in-cheek comments would do well, and it's something I'll look at including in our match updates as we presumably get our arse handed to us over the next couple of games. Ultimately though I treat this as if it is a paid position and I'd like to continue to handle it with professionalism.

Tell them if we fail to win any of our next four  it'll mean we've won 15 games in two f**king years. We'd get on that's life

Cyril Fletcher could read an ode to us................(message for The Cult.......is ode the correct description here)

In later years it would be Doc Cox.............who had another less well know alias...........anyone care to remember

PS : Sorry, happy to talk about anything but football at the moment

Mick,

Yes, you are spot on.

The distinctly unsettling Cyril Fletcher and his trademark 'odd odes' on the dreaded That's Life.

To an entirely different demographic, Doc Cox was better known as Ivor Biggun.

File the above under: 'topics I never imagined that I would be discussing on the Alty forum'.

Ivor Biggun and the Red Nosed Burglars. Their hit song should be dedicated to Neil Young (who proved himself to be one during his tenure here).

With his ham fisted approach he'd even get that wrong.
