As much as I dont like the club (due to antics of a few at ML) that is one nicely written article.

Hypocrites that have taken the dollar at the first chance theyve had to highlight to the country their morals and objectives. On ESPN as well, I bet malcom is pissing himself.Oh well just another football club out to make money at whatever the cost, and f**k the fans if they cant make it on friday night :D :D

I'm sorry but at least they have got into the first round. They have been offered £67,500, and despite going against principles I think the majority of their fans know that the money is needed for their future stadium. They aren't making money at whatever the cost, it would just be completely stupid not to accept it.

OF course they would be stupid not to accept it, thats not the issue, they were supposed to be a protest club, needless to say, once the money starts talking that goes by the wayside...

None of the FC United Fans will be going anyway, they boycott any games that are moved by TV companies..

Can't really say I have too much of a problem with this, as the money is not going to pay off the debt of some Yank, but is actually going towards the building of a new ground, for the fans.

Money is going to the club, for what they want and need.

This criticism is just silly.

Its not silly. The point is that the fans formed the club. They formed it to stand up against the franchising of football and the traditions being taken away from the match going fan (or whatever diatribe they live by). This act is them going against all of that. I think its funny.

It was only ever a matter of time.

Don't see why everything FC United do we have to bitch about..

If they turned down the money we'd probably say it was pathetic and a waste of possible revenue. In theory, yes they are going against some of their 'principles' but why should we question them for it? For one game out of their season they can do an awful lot towards helping secure the future of their club so I see no problem.

This was always going to happen to FCUM at one point - the bigger issue is when they are in Conference National and they will have matches moved for TV whether they like it or not....

You are missing the point. Its in their constitution not to have games moved for TV and to avoid rampant commercialism. Was only a matter of time before they arrived in the real world.

As soon as the money is offered FCUM show their true colours. When they first started out FCUM were adamant that they would not bow to the forces of TV money or adverse commercialised sponsorship deals. Today shows that they have more in common with Manchester united than they realise.

Any club would have taken the money. FCUM have least attempted to spin the news with their "thoughts" and "feelings" for their fans. Most of it is bullsh*t, they need the money, and ESPN have paid them to sod their own fans and play on a Friday night.

perhaps FCUM have realised that commercial revenues really are important to football clubs, especially when attendances have dropped by 7%
