was looking through some of his old posts yesterday. The one where he suggests building a cafe because "it would be ideal" is brilliant

Altrincham FC First Team / Either this league is a shambles...

or Crawley are really taking the p*ss!

According to all the fixture lists I can find they're playing simultaneous home games against both Southport and Kettering. I can only assume this is some sort of cock up by the league rather than this actually happening? What's going on?  ???

I think 2-1 York, sorry!

To be honest I think if we got promoted it'd be a very small increase and would probably mainly be down to away support.

Altrincham FC First Team / New Player
« on: February 18, 2011, 03:48:18 PM »
Altrincham FC are pleased to announce the emergency loan signing, till the end of the season, of left-footed central midfielder Steven Connors (born Liverpool, 5 January 1986), from Fleetwood Town. As with all such loans, after 28 days he will be subject to recall. Steve goes into Saturday's squad and, if named in the sixteen against Kettering, will be the 36th player named in a match-day squad this season. He will also become Alty's 23rd debutant of the season.
He joined Fleetwood Town in February 2009 from Bradford Park Avenue, having previously been at Witton Albion. Steve also had a brief spell at Droyslden towards the end of last year. Described on the Fleetwood website as "combative", he has picked up three yellow cards in 2(+6) appearances for Town this season. At Moss Lane he joins former team-mate Mark Beesley from Fleetwood.

He will bear squad number 18.

Altrincham FC First Team / Half Baked Idea-Points or Pounds
« on: February 17, 2011, 02:24:28 PM »
Here's an idea I've just come up with, it's a bit weird, so feel free to tell me if it's stupid/unworkable, but here goes.

Every game a group of us donate some money to this, can be a small amount like a pound. Then we pool all the money and bet it all on Alty losing. If Alty do lose, then we donate all the money to the club.

This would mean that every game we play, the club either gets points, or a small amount of money, meaning we will always have a small positive, after every game. If we are repeatedly losing, then the management team have a little more money to help bring in reinforcements.

Of course this would rely on fans taking money out of their own pocket, like the bucket collection.

Just an idea, feel free to shoot me down in flames if I overlooked something obvious.

Cheers for the info. I can't say I wouldn't like to see Carden in an Alty shirt but I still think we need a new striker.

I wasn't there yesterday so I don't know what happened with Smithy.

I'm not condoning racial abuse in any way, but some of the comments on here about him never playing for the club again and being banned for life ect are in my opinion, a little over the top.

IT's football, we're not looking for saints, we've had convicted criminals in the team. I think his behaviour is a fkn disgrace and he needs to sort himself out and be punished for it, but this is hardly news and for me, elbowing an opposition player in the face is a lot worse. Besides, he's hardly a neo-nazi is he, having played with many players of different races in the past (and at present).

Wasn't sure whether to put this on here, but I don't want to take the common viewpoint just because it's Politically Correct.

I am not defending James Smith or his actions, or attempting to justify racism I think he is a disgrace and needs to be punished. I just think suggestions that he never play again are somewhat OTT

Altrincham FC First Team / Crawley in Biggest Shocker to Date!
« on: February 12, 2011, 01:50:38 PM »
Speaking ahead of Crawley's match against Wrexham assistant manager Paul Raynor spouted: "They're a team full of confidence. They've got a fantastic manager (Dean Saunders)".

If you say so Paul!

Also I believe their supporters' coach to Wrexham was cancelled due to lack of interest.  ;D
