My thoughts exactly...
Perhaps they were daft and came in with the offer before they realised there was a clause? Or maybe they decided to offer £130,000 in installments rather than £85,000 up front?

Perhaps it only gets up to 135 with sell-ons?

It seems a fair price. Millwall are crap at transfer dealings. They sold Tim Cahill for £1.5million when he was worth at least £8million and they paid £800,000 for Paul Goddard (regularly voted the most hated player ever to play for Millwall)

Terms for striker Steve Morisons move to Millwall were confirmed today. The 25-year-old moves to Millwall for a £130,000 fee plus incentives and joins his new team-mates in time for the League One play off final at Wembley.
Phil Wallace said: "We've been in talks with Millwall for some while and Steve's finally got the move he wanted. For our part, we are happy with the fee and, most importantly, we retain an interest in Steve's future with a healthy sell on and further bonus payments linked to his performance.
"Steve was due a move, he's been a great servant to the club and would have been out of contract this summer if he hadn't signed a new deal. We made it clear at that time that we would work hard to get him a move into the League if we didn't go up. We're sorry to lose Steve's goals, but we can't stand in the way of our lads significantly improving their earnings if they get the chance.
"In my opnion Steve will adjust to whatever league he's in with Millwall next season and kick on again. He's a confident young man and the Championship will not faze him one bit if Millwall win at Wembley. We'll be following his progress with interest and on behalf of everyone at Stevenage, we wish him well in his future career."

But isn't it illegal to turn down a bid of £85,000 if the clause is in his contract? It doesn't matter whether Millwall offer more, surely they have to accept all bids of £85,000 or more?
Unless they asked him to go to Millwall specifically to get more money for the club and he agreed?
Odd.

But what happens if more than one club bids £85,000? It looks like it became an auction.
