Altrincham FC First Team / Re: Alty stewards
« on: January 02, 2008, 11:42:19 AM »
I wonder if it was the same Northwich idiot steward who for the past two seasons has got into nasty confrontations between himself and our supporters at that horrible place? The same guy who, when spotted in KFC after the game by some of our supporters, ran off, jumped into a car and shouted "f**k off" out of the window at them?

It's just a shame we will never play there again so he can't get his just desserts. It's lucky our fans are relatively nice - can you imagine what would happen if Northwich ever had to play a real match and he started mouthing off to some Bradford or Cardiff? He would be ripped limb from limb!

It wouldn't surprise me if it was the same bloke who assaulted one of your supporters yesterday.

So you haven't factored in the loss in gate receipts for the "bigger" clubs then?

If the game is called off we can all have a good laugh and a drink.

I was planning to do that after my team have won!

Officially?

It'll be f**king fine just all get down here and if a blizzard hits we'll all get pissed in the bar.

Next.

To be fair Ballers we would have done that not long ago, but a train ticket these days to Manchester/Alty from York is something crazy like £20-£25! I remember when it was a tenner, and that's not that long ago!!!!

I don't want to spend that if I am having to come back for the Tuesday night if it's rearranged!

Sorry to be boring but loads of people are asking me about a pitch inspection.

Any official word?

Is there a pitch inspection planned tomorrow morning ahead of our match in the Trophy?

I am hoping to get the train from York at 09.58 arriving in Alty at about 12.15 but can set off later if there is any doubt.

Any info would be much appreciated.

Cheers!

Absolutely fine. Has your manager said similar things about the FA Trophy Phil?

I suppose so but, with a decision about his future about to be made, he's not likely to say "I don't care about this competition" as every potential win is a step closer to a full-time manager's job.

As strange as it sounds, the presence of the Setanta Shield this season will possibly boost our efforts in the Trophy.

Tuesday night, the 18th, giving us pointless trips to york and nuneaton in the week before Christmas, to fit in nicely with our pointless trip to torquay two week before Christmas..

I don't see why they can't make it like the FA Vase where the two clubs can agree amongst themselves how they want to play it and whether or not they want extra time and pens or a straight replay.

I am sure if Heathcote and Walker got together they would definitely want to settle the game at the first attempt if it's a draw.

Even footballers have to do some shopping some time!

I can only find one bookie offering odds on the game(sky bet)

Altrincham 7/4
Draw 9/4
York 5/4

Oh no, a horrible thought just struck me - they don't do replays in the Trophy do they?

I hope not. If so, when would it be?!?

I wonder if the ex-league clubs are interested at all in the Trophy. The FA Cup may still be their cup.

I think the answer to that is a resounding "no" but having said that, Exeter got to the semi-final a few seasons ago if memory serves. I remember Craig Farrell mentioning it in an interview I did with him.

Ultimately, what we do in the FA Trophy is up to the manager and the players. The fact that fans like me scoff at the competition means nothing if the team are going to go out and there and do their best to win. We have a caretaker manager who is trying to get the job on a permanent basis, so losing to Alty will do him no favours, just as giving Alty a battering will stand him in good stead.

I might stick a tenner on Alty though, the odds should be decent.

How many Kitkats york fans do you expect to travel for this one?

Not many Darren, we don't do the FA Trophy.

Don't worry chaps, I'll be coming along.

Have you thought about not segregating this game?

Organising fixtures 3 days before Christmas is Setanta's fault though isn't it? As well as this rule that you have to put out a strong side.

I am sure you will see my point when 3 or 4 key Alty players get kicked up in the air by some Conference North cloggers and are out injured resulting in a defeat to Northwich on Boxing Day.

That would go down really well round your way I'm sure!
