Title: Steve Finney - RIP
Post by: Sale Holmfield on February 05, 2022, 12:15:34 PM
I have seen the sad news that former player Steve Finney has died, aged just 48.

He joined  us, initially on loan, from Chester City, in December 2000 and was a pretty regular goalscorer for the remainder of that season. He briefly returned, later in 2001 when he scored 2 goals in an 8-1 Cheshire Senior Cup win at Woodley Sports. RIP.

Such tragic news. I thought he was a decent player.

Condolences to his friends and family.

Obscure fact: Steve Finney was Alty's leading goalscorer in the 2000/01 Unibond Premier League season with a total of 11 goals in all competitions.
