Title: The Road To Wembley - Kidderminster
Post by: Mrs Warbouys on January 06, 2015, 04:37:33 PM
Only £10 to get in at Kidderminster on Saturday, bargain for such a hugely important fixture. A lot on this forum won't have been born the last time we graced the twin towers. We had as good a chance as any since 1986 to make fa trophy final last season seeing how the draw opened out. Let's hope we have a huge following out to roar the lads on, get through this tie and we could be in with a real chance. At only a tenner for adults it's a must do. And lets hope kidderminster sell Marvin Johnson before saturday!

Didn't think people cared for the trophy at this stage not going to lie, how many do we usually take away to such a fixture?

If we are expecting a following I might actually bother to go :)

Been supporting Alty half my life but we never progress in the FA trophy enough for me to care

Until 76-7 we have no trophy history at all other than a couple of wins in 72-3, but a semi final that year was followed by winning it the year after.  A debacle against Cheltenham, a home stuffing by Mossley followed but we were back at Wembley two years later.  Then a vicious semi final at Boston, followed by another such at Wycombe the year after before our second success all those years ago...

Alty seem to have a following in both cup and trophy despite poor record also you either want to go or don't why would a following matter

I remember 500 going to Leek and Colne, and they were 1st round games, also remember good 300 going to Welling for a 3rd round match

Am I imagining things or, intil relatively recently, didn't Alty have more FA trophy victories (games, not the trophy itself) than any other team?

If the rain in Kiddie is anything like the rain in Irvine then we will need a couple of bog snorkellers! The game could already be in doubt having seen the pics of their pitch the other day.

The trophy is still a first rate competition and one we should all take seriously. Its a day out at wembley and also prize money is involved. One observation though is that New Wembley is ripping off smaller clubs like ours with huge stadium costs and this is obviously taking the shine off when more can be made from prommotion play offs

At what round does the FA Trophy become national rather than regionalised?

It used to be this round, but I presume it will now be the next one (due Jan 24th) - you can't really regionalise the last 16!

Sounds like a surface and conditions not conducive to team that like to try and play passing football
