Worst big FA cup game experience?

Think I'd say York away after we'd beaten birmingham....I mean, how do you marry those two up?

They had two shots and they both went in...we played some great stuff and prob had 2 shots that flew just over...fine margins but we can't get all the luck all the time.

In my modern times, that would be Preston.

Soundly beaten 4-0 and dragged backwards off a bar stool by my hair by a scotsman with "cut here" tatooed on his neck.

He thought we were taking liberties invading their main firms pub.  We actually just went for a pint at the nearest pub to the railway station.

Just when we thought we had escaped we got on the train home and it was full of Chelsea hooligans.

Something started smoking underneath one of the seats in the carriage we were all in.

A Chelsea fan then shouted "them Altrincham fans have set fire to the traaaainnnn" which of course we hadn't!

 Bit scarey!!

Totally agree with the Preston game as stated above but it was actually 4-1. George Sheppard scored a penalty right at the end. A consolation it was not - probably one of my biggest anti-climaxes watching Alty!

Did we have a man sent off at Preston or have i made that up due to being totally gassed on the day?! Think it was Ev that got accused by the Chelsea fans of setting fire to the train and the guys in the pub were nutters!  We couldn't have looked less like a firm if we'd tried!

Ha ha those were the days- i must add however we were pre warned not to re enter said pub as we had drunk there prior to the game wich we duly ignored !

I vividly remember playing on the fruit machine and turning round to find i was the only Alty fan still in there ha ha- i asked a meat head were everyone was to wich he replied- they have all left

at that point i thought it was time to join you all

The police escort to the ground was also highly amusing :)

Was going to say about you mate, all on your own trying to drop the £10 jackers on Coronation Street.

Now I'm a bit older I understand about how hooligan firms work, that must have looked like we were right up for it.

30 of us marched into the vault and sat down, got the jukebox rocking and away we went!

I remember when we went to Tottenham in 1995 and we did the same except with about 100 of us.  Right in the main Spurs pub near the ground.  They were shocked at first but then just found us amusing and said stuff like "Arsenal wouldn't have the balls to march in here"...

Have you still got that brilliant picture of it Wayne?

We were luckier in 1995 when we wandered into one of Spurs main haunts on the infamous Broadwater Farm estate. It was only the "Cantona eats garlic" chant that saved us a hiding that day. Spurs making the people on non official coaches wait in the dark on that estate afterwards was an absolute disgrace too.

Anyway, didn't go on the train to Preston but...

...Worst big FA cup game experience?

PORT VALE AT HOME 1992.

End of thread!!

I went to that game with my Science teacher who was a PNE fan, I was raving about Stuart Terry, then he didn't play, everyone at home wanted Alty to win

And I'd say Crewe at home, thought we'd sneek a 1-0 win
Also Spurs in 95, if that goal had stood, what if....

0-3 home to Mossley - the only time I have ever left the ground early (even if it was only about 5 mins)

Can never understand people who do that, i find it bizzare, you only have to go a few games back and mention Gateshead...

I think there are very occasionally some games where things are so irretrievably bad that to go on watching is simply not possible. It hurts to walk out early but sometimes there is no alternative.

Two really, Burnley was one.
The other, strange as it may seem, was Liverpool. We were at the height of our powers and would have given any other top flight team a real run for their money.
We could have had a record breaking cup run that year, I will be thinking 'what if' for the rest of my life!!!
