And to the guy who is cycling from Sale - is that a 17-mile round trip or one-way?

... and finally, has there been much trouble at this fixture in recent years, thinking of going with family but not sure what the atmos is going to be like.

The silly kick off time is essentially down to Vics lack of a proper infrastructure. Some slight handbags over the segregation fence last year on New Years Day which if Vics had properly stewarded the game (and indeed listened to the advice of the AFC stewards who were present) and made it more than a few metres apart from each other then nothing would have happened. As it was a few idiots saw it a good chance to goad the opposition fans over the fence and I think a steward might have got punched. I didn't go but that was pretty much it. No-one arrested. The Police have therefore in conjunction with Cheshire Trading Standards and in their infinite wisdom decided that it requires a 12 noon kick off this year after last year's events. I personally have never seen any trouble at any Alty-Vics game since we both have been in the Conference in the past few years, actually other than Oxford 2 years ago I cannot recall anything you could even call hooliganism at an Alty game. Minimal chance of trouble on Boxing Day, certainly not enough to put anyone off from going. All it's actually done is knocked a few hundred off the gate and made the atmosphere much worse as everyone nurses their hangover.

It was actually an Alty fan that got punched by a Northwich steward last year. No stewards got punched.

Come om Ecky of course the clubs reception is manned on Xmas Day just waiting to fill the extra places on the coach.

Seriously though I too will be have 2 places in my car and will leave Altrincham at 11.00am and will leave immediately after the match to come back.

If anyone needs a lift please PM me before 9.00pm tonight with your telephone number and name and I will confirm if you have a place and pick you up at 11.00 at the ground PROMPT. Late arrivals on departure and return will be left as I need to get back home fast.
