Er, what's your point there Dan?

Edit: Actually looking at it again that table is quite incredible and shows us to be in far better nick now than the vast majority of the clubs we left behind in 1997.

2 Kidderminster Harr Conference after brief spell in league
3 Stevenage Borough ]Still doing well in conference
4 Morecambe Up into league
5 Woking Still in conference, albeit wrong end of the table currently
6 Northwich Victoria ??
7 Farnborough Town BUST currently back in one of the SOuthern Leagues
8 Hednesford Town Dropped right through to current Unibond Prem
9 Telford United BUST lucky to be allowed to start again in Unibond, currently ConfNorf
10 Gateshead went down to current Unibond div1 - now at ConfNorf
11 Southport Down, up, down and now in ConfNorf
12 Rushden and Diamonds Conference after brief spell in league but finances post Griggs don't add up
13 Stalybridge Celtic Down, up, down again, ConfNorf
14 Kettering Town Down, play off heartbreak  :) but back on their feet in BSP now
15 Hayes Down, BUST? Certainly forced to merge, Hayes & Yeading in ConSouth
16 Slough Town DOWN (Demoted) In Southern Lge Div 1 S&W. Wexham Park currently derelict
17 Dover Athletic DOWN, CVA strava, back on feet but still in Isthmian Lge
18 Welling United DOWN, currently in Conf South
19 Halifax Town UP, DOWN & DOWN, BUST(?) reprieved us, lucky to start in Unibond 1 - Shay still not finished
20 Bath City  DOWN, currently in Conf South
21 Bromsgrove Rovers DOWN, DOWN...Southern Lge Div1 Mid, £ strava, talk of merger with Redditch
22 Altrincham  ;D

I felt so bad in May 1997, if you'd told me it would pan out like this I'd never have believed you. My wounds are healed looking at this.

How lucky are we?

1.Macclesfield Town promoted fraudulently by a chairman using money that wasn't his so much so that he shot himself, defrauded the Football Foundation over £2 million quid helping to keep them in the league, then lied to everybody saying they would go bust, showing no class and begging. Again fraudulenty, despite being bank rolled by a pair of *alledged* money launderers who have put £3 mil into them in the time they said they couldn't afford to pay their fine.

Yes, nearly forgot about you.

Don't forget to add...

Now completley debt free and lining up large transfer fees in order to cheat our way up the football league...

Fair enough!

Probably not a good idea though...

Even though only ever been to 1 Alty - Macc derby, that being the 4-0 at Moss Lane, I have always hated them. Northwich are that bit on the side, a good pleasure but never quite the real deal.

If we are honest, forgeting Stockport County and Port Vale, we will alway view Alty as rivals... And we all had our fingers crossed when they drew the first round of the FA Cup...

It will happen again one day, and when it does it will one hell of a game..

Er, what's your point there Dan?

sorry yeah, my point - as a fairly young person who has only recently starting watching alty, i have never seen us play macc.

I find it quite odd for any fan who started supporting alty after 1997 to say - 'i hate macc'. Maybe a bad comparison, but its sort of like people saying, i hate 'Brand and Ross' without having listened to their show. maybe a better comparison is Cambridge united, rejecting histon and sticking with peterborough as their main rivals when they havent played each other for 7 years and they are 2 leagues apart.

Don't forget Blackburn have played Burnely twice in about 25 years and they have a strong rivalry... It will never fade, just make the day we play a competative game much more special..

Its also a shame they re-entered us into the Cheshire Cup, seems pointless having just 5 teams taking part..

dan_mtfc.

Jsut a quick question, I'm not sure how close you are geographically but surely Port Vale and Stockport don't consider you rivals.

All the county fans I know don't regard you as such. Bury and Rochdale are rivals, you're just someone they play each season.
