Sandbach United - Match Thread
« on: October 09, 2022, 08:50:11 PM »

A new ground for many, I Visited in 2019, it’s a great set up and one well worth visiting. A chance for some to get minutes that need them and hopefully whatever team we pick sees us in to the next round.

So are we expecting the reserves or the academy to play? Or might it be first team fringes?

Yes. I was at that one too. That ground was a bit of an eye opener wasn't it?

We will probably nip over to Sandbach tomorrow, haven’t been there before and it will be good to see some of the fringe lads getting a trot out.

I'll be going; another one to tick off; and a chance to hopefully put 3 wins in a row together

You'd expect it to be a mixture of reserves, academy lads and first-teamers who are on the fringes, or looking to build fitness. Gould,  J. Jones, Brockbank, Pringle, Hussain, Hulme all likely start. I am not sure about the fitness of Roxburgh, Sami, and Goodson. I don't believe Baines or Kaja are fit for this.

Say it every year but I think it'd be cool to win it.

You'd think we'd be able to field quite a strong hybrid side in this at the moment, given recent returns to fitness / not many loanees out.

Will be intrigued to see how we line up.

Have we made the decision as a club to absorb the fine for not playing a full strength team? The rule is still in place that you must play your strongest available team or pay a fine of at least 500 quid.

I've no problem with it, I'm just interested whether this has been decided to be the case or are we as fans just hoping we see a fringe team play, when rather it is going to be our main squad using up some of the tank on a sunday league competition

What is wrong with Alex Sami, he seems to have disappeared into the abyss. I didn't even know he was injured.

Felt he had potential, but am disappointed I have not been able to see him play a major part in any matches yet. Sorry if I am beginning to sound tedious, but we hear very little about the fringe players. No injury updates other than those we witness at games.

It would be cool to win it. If Macc are still in it, that could be a genuinely interesting tie with the way things are. When did we last play them, Northwich (either one), Witton or Runcorn  (all in the same league now) in the competition anyway?

And why was the tie switched? Didn't the CSC used to take precedence?

Of course, being registered with the Cheshire FA still is a decisive factor for Anthony Taylor when allocating those Premier League matches (or so I understand).
