Title: Halifax (A) Match Thread
Post by: Saughall Robin on December 08, 2023, 08:52:38 PM
So, do we think it'll be on tomorrow given the amount of rain ☔ or will we be going there on Tuesday and postponing poor old Dorking for the third time?!

If it's not been called off by 2pm it still could be!

I was beginning to think we'd organised a boycott and I didn't know.

I'm expecting us to win if it's on. We are better than we were last season.

Just as I was heading off to the station to try my luck on the trains.

May as well settle in for the pm and have a sleep.

So Kidderminster away if we can get through this one.

Everywhere is like a rice field and more rain to come. I think it will be difficult to play our normal game if it does go ahead tomorrow

I've not kept abreast of the severity of the weather, so are we sure that the match will be on tomorrow?

I don't think we are. The Shay certainly has had 'previous' for postponements in the past. I think it's had a bit of a tart up in the last few years so things might have changed for the better?

Is there going to be a pitch inspection today or is it definitely on?

I remember being surprised the New Year's Day game was on last year, given the weather we'd had. Pitch was heavy from memory.

Forecast pretty dry(ish) for the remainder of the day, so they should have a decent idea based on the current state of the ground up there.

They seem pretty confident that it's going ahead.

No James Jones - Roscoe and Cooper chosen as the defensive pairing.

Also no Alex Newby, but probably not the sort of game for him.

Matty Kosylo straight into the XI, bench looks decent.

Down to ten men  :-\ 0-0 and victory on pens would be the sweetest result from here.

Couldn't beat us with 11 v 10, well done to the lads for having the balls to see this through. Good penalties too by the sound of the commentary.

Revenge is sweet, owed them one.

Just back. We needed that game, players looked undercooked for not having played for 2 weeks. The red changed the game into Attack v Defence but truth be told Halifax never built up a head of steam, never imposed themselves because we wouldn't let them. We saw that game out with relative ease.

Good pens too.

Got back about an hour ago.  Not the best game of football but, God, that was a sweet way to end it.  Notwithstanding the red (probably the correct decision from what I saw) the ref and liner had an absolute shocker.  Disappointed in Dackers, who seemed to lack any desire to win possession, or to retain it on the rare occasions he had the ball.  At least Dior ran about and made a nuisance of himself.  Still, all that doesn't matter given the result.  Well done to those who travelled, not too bad for a rearranged fixture, particularly when Utd were on the box.

Superb result under the circumstances, well done Alty and to the travelling support who got themselves up there to see the lads over the line.

Much like Shay Lane, Aggborough hasn't always been a happy place for us to go - but this is a very different Alty these days (and a very different Kidderminster).

We stand a great chance of putting another run together.

665 there, 100 from Alty. It was always going to be a small crowd but that was a very poor gate indeed.

Maybe the Halifax fans weren't allowed to pull the goal nets around whilst we took our pens this time?

Our successful 1978 FA Trophy campaign began with a 0-0 away draw.

And that came after we had lost at the Semi-Final stage during the previous season.

Just saying...

I almost watched this for the first time thinking it was the pens from last night. It's still too soon. Still can't watch it. I'm in denial. It never happened.
