I'm sure Oldham will be there or thereabouts come the end of the season, given the resources they have available to them.

The other team it might be worth keeping an eye on is Hartlepool under Kevin Phillips - they're quite far back at the moment but it'll be interesting to see if they can put a run together.

Oldham, Rochdale and Halifax seem to be doing their best to beat themselves, form is key and any gap under 6 points is easily clawed back over March and April.
Oldham are second to Chesterfield in the form table. The only teams in Playoff spots that are also in the same place in the form table are us and Aldershot.

The rest of the playoff spots are held by teams on the slide at the moment.

If it's not us vs Oldham at some point in the playoffs I'll be surprised.

I'm not sure even Parkinson is mental enough to jeopardise PO to keep a cushty relationship with united... Surely...

I understand taking him, if he comes with a Maxi or a more proven player.

As for finding out our club captain is out for the season as a one-liner in a loan article. That's pretty poor.
100% on the James Jones point. Really poor form to slide it in like that.

We had the lad last year, so at least Parky knows him already, and I guess it is a cover thing now we ultimately know this news. We didn't play him much last year and Utd were happy enough. Hopefully it is still the case.

I heard on the nltv stream that he had signed for another month...

As one of the commentators on the NLTV stream on Saturday don’t believe everything you hear !

I think I may be responsible for that misunderstanding. I was speculating when his loan spell was due to end and may have mistakenly mentioned the end of February.

My apologies for any confusion caused.
It was you Paul, I'm not gonna hold it against you :)

Especially when the truth was better.

Another month would be a bit odd because I don’t think you can extend more than twice so he’d then have to go back in Feb. Unless new management are happy to leave him here while they asses what they’ve got then get him back in Feb with a view to forming a view on potential new contract for him in the summer over the next few months?

I wouldn’t fancy that if I was him though. Potentially looking a for a new club after not playing much at the back end of the season isnt easy
I also thought it was odd, I'd expect it was a perm move with an early release a la eddy jones. We could also extend the loan to allow for further negotiations since we can buy outside of January.

Either way we've heard all sorts and I know we just all hope it's sorted before Thursday.

Yeah, the pitch & the forecast no doubt a big concern. Plus side is it’s over 2 weeks since we last had a home match & I believe we’ve borrowed some heat lamps off Stoke for the especially dodgy patch in front of the main stand. The forecast tomorrow well known & we’ve had time to prepare plus it should stop at least 3-3.5 hrs before KO so gives us some time to work on it.
As part of the pitch crew, Stoke haven’t lent us any lamps.
Who told you they have ?

Well, someone certainly has. See the post on the Facebook group earlier today.
We've bought it second hand and it's just arrived.

I was sent a picture of it on the hallowed turf/mud over a week ago.
Hallowed mud, excellent, sad.

If that's the case it's probably even more testament to larger issue at play.

I believe we are in contact with Bodge it and Scarper about them sorting it foc
The thing is, the guys we used are the same guys that Wrexham brought in straight after to fix their disaster of a pitch. Supposedly the experts at this sort of thing.

The only solution to this issue is to not have a massive water table less than 1m from the surface. Which means moving.

Bad news indeed.

Does beg the question of where Byrnes position in club is.

Surly he could be loaned out as hes cleary not in the plans

I'm sure Ollie Byrne will be on the released list in the summer - he just wasn't good enough, it's as simple as that. He's still young and will hopefully be happy somewhere else.
I made prayers to the main gods of each religion he was signed by Rochdale. I think they heard, but checked the wrong cork city keeper on transfermarkt.

Huge tbh, I'm in agreement with Phil that Eddy is the best LB in the league, and Baines is easily in the top 10 in the NL at CB.

Next Isaac on an year extension. In my opinion, he is the best ball winning midfielder in the league and should be on most clubs radar.

Hoping there will be a few this Jan tbh.

From those most likely to be expiring this summer(?) my priorities would be Jake Cooper, Isaac Marriott, Elliott Osborne and Regan Linney. Don't think I've missed any other obvious ones...?

Marriott is under contract till the summer of 2025.
Still not long enough.

I'd be looking to keep everyone on a 2 year contract now we know we'd like to improve the squad over rebuilding.

Such a bizarre move this one - I just can't understand who would have sanctioned it (although the top brass at United are clearly clueless at the best of times).

Surely there must have been a club hovering around the League Two playoffs that would have been quite happy to take him - or even Salford given they're better placed to pull away from the bottom over the coming weeks. Feels similar to when Toby left us scratching our heads when he went to Rochdale.
They pulled it off last year as well, grabbing that long haired ponce from Macc's lad. Like a cesspool of teams I dislike that one, Macc, FGR, Utd. Full sh*t sandwich.

What's everyone's beef (or should that be tofu?) with FGR? Why don't we like them again?

Google should give you a less biased version but i'll give you an unfiltered Alty fans pov.

That f**king C**t C*lin P*ake f**king f**ked us over a f**king unregistered player that f**king Accrington had f**king forgotten to f**king sort international f**king clearance for.

Lost 18 points, survived the season because someone else went out of business.

If we don't play Mooney against the team that he's just abandoned so he can score the winner and cause a merry hell, I'd be very surprised
