...this coming Saturday, John King made his Alty debut at Worksop.

In an inauspicious start, we lost 1-0 with Heathcote going off injured after kicking the corner flag at a corner.

On his home debut he fired us ahead against Matlock in a 2-1 win.

Greatness for Alty started that day, November 26th 1977 - perhaps it can begin again on November 26 2011

(the very definition of optimist!)

I bought White Punks on Dope by The Tubes at Boots in George Street that day. By the way, we went 1 down to Matlock, Kingy equalised before half time with Jeff Johnson getting the winner late on - can't remember the attendance though. Given our current personnel recruiting from outside for a captain might not be such a daft idea.

Ah, that much-visited record department on the first floor of Boots' old shop on George Street...

Those were the days - when Boots stocked records by Fee Waybill's band!
