Title: Brackley Facilites and ground in general
Post by: robins1978 on May 05, 2013, 11:20:13 PM
Basically very poor all round. Brian Flynn had said it wasnt great but he was being generous.

While getting piss wet through (not Brackleys fault it rained i know) waiting for the gate entry folk to let us in we all wondered what was taking so long. Eventually after finally gaining entry to ground all became clear. Instead of having programme (put up to £2 for this game and a very poor mostly B&W effort) sellers inside the ground one of the chaps on the gate was selling them as people went in which seemed to take an age to sort out. We realised the other line was moving faster so switched to that one. Basic schoolboy error. Get the people in ASAP stop faffing around with other money spiners and get us in for fekks sake.

When inside the only person we saw was the 'golden goal' (more on this later) seller. No stewards to direct us or answer 'where to go for??? questions'. Went to bar, wait was ridiculously long, but they had a 'home' fans line I nearly joined until realised it was best not to as it was for home fans. So didnt bother to get a beer. Later seen people with beers while watching the game - whats that all about?

Went to take a leek, 2 urinals and 2 cubicals no way enough. How on earth has this place been passed for BSN level let alone any higher.

Trafford facilities and ground so so much better than Brackleys - I hope Trafford get up to BSN and we play them in a play off semi coz the away leg would be a much nicer experience. Traffords Golden Goal is proper affair too, not times for each team scoring in any minute of the 90 - thats just a daft way of doing it. I know it works same but I personally dont like that way of doing it (rant over bout that). Looking forward to our PSF with Trafford. If Stu retires from Alty he maybe playing against us that day!

So the result aside I didnt enjoy my Brackley experience and so we dont get them in next seasons play offs i hope they go up and we miss them when they come back down. ps does anyone want to buy a bloody dolphin?

It's on the Halifax site that the final will be all ticket and Halifax have been allocated 1000.No tickets have been printed yet though.

And on advice from the conference they are going to segregate the fans.

Presumablt that means the Halifax fans will be in the cricket ground watching it on a big screen :D

How they gonna sell the tickets and get them to people before Sunday unless they have to line up first to get them on the day of the game. That would take a while too! The conference (responsible for printing prog for final) better send someone to sell the programmes for them ottherwise it would take about 3 hours just to get into the ground! Maybe they should make it an evening Kick Off to give them enough time to get everyone in the ground!

For ticketing details please contact Mr M Mouse at Brackley FC - This isnt sour grapes because we lost, they were the better team over the piece - However nobody can tell me that that ground is Blue Square Premiership Standard.

An awful ground and not much better than my local non-league step 5 grounds of Redhill and Merstham which are not as battered. Also totally disorganised and I cant see how they are going to segregate fans with only one set of turnstyles, unless they have stewards identifying every single entrant once they have gone through the turnstyle. I found that there was only one unrinal which only allowed 3 males at a time and there was a distateful incident after the game. I also think that they are making Sunday all ticket so their fans are not outnumbered and there would certainly be an issue if 2,000 turned up from Halifax. However ticket or no ticket they wont be able to handle large numbers arriving just before kick-off. They may also not know how many locals will turn up. Hence all ticket is the right way to go, but I am not convinced that they could still handle it. In my opinion that ground's facilities are too poor for crowds in excess of 1,000 as Saturday proved.

I think Brackley will lose against Halifax and some of their players will leave and I think they will struggle in the BSN next season. Take away their magnificent start to this season they didnt do fantastic after the first 10 games. If they go up they will come straight back down like Lewes and St Albans - whose grounds is much superior.

ground rules have clearly been relaxed in recent seasons...when you think of the likes of hucknall being refused promotion and then droylsden going up...clubs getting kicked out of the conference like Nuneaton for ground rules.....Macc and kiddy being denied promotion to the FL and then Accrington getting in........it is hard not to be bitter and scratch your head.....it took us a while to recover on the pitch from the £450k upgrade we did to moss lane.

Brackley managed to stage the game reasonably comfortably albeit without adequate toilet facilities but only thanks to the good behaviour of alty fans and our stewards and the likes of ecky being proactive in our self segregation....but in recent years they would not have been allowed to have the chance.

I think Brackley had a nice little set up with a nice bar and food facilities for a certain level and are clearly struggling to make the upgrades required for a higher level.......this will cause them a problem especially if they go up and maybe the catalyst for ground rules to tighten up again.

Wouldn't worry about it though as these bankrolled clubs without infrastructure rarely have a very long life span.

The thing that gets me is when you look at how well they played against us first and last games of our season wtf thappened in between for them not to steamroller the league title?...how honest are these well paid players and can they really say they have played to their best efforts all season in return for their money?

Not sure where anyone has said we lost because there were no toilets?....although it would be nice to pin our defeat on something :-)

This post was not blaming our defeat on poor facilities as you rightly question, that has been incorrctly interpreted. But you do expect a certain level of basic facilities when you visit a sports arena. Sadly the facilities on Saturday were deeply lacking in all departments mentioned. Its not that hard to pin our defeat on something. Basically we didnt play like the team that has only lost once in the last 15 or so league  games and they (Brackley) took their chances well to progress to the final. For Alty a Semi-Final Play Off loss does not make it a bad season - far from it. Im sure if a survey of 100 Alty fans was done at the start of the season asking about thier expectations - over 75% would say reaching the Play Offs would be a great season.

Then you must be one of the 25% then Jimmy! It doesnt so much bother me that they have a poor ground and facilities just that it was so noticeable thought worth a mention and others feel same, but obviously not everyone !  :)

I really do wish people would let this rest, as it's sounding like sour grapes. Brackley may have a United Counties League ground but they have reached the play-off final on playing merit and the facility must have passed inspection in order for them to take a place in those play-offs. My sympathies are with the residents of Churchill Way (the road leading to the ground): if the club is promoted they will be in for a pretty rude awakening come August. What will be will be ...

What are we not letting rest? There is nothing to let rest. This post has NOTHING to do with the result in the 2nd Leg nor was it intended to suggest that the poor facilities  played part in our loss. I was just stating what i considered as a fact that it was a poor ground. By the way in case theres any confusion - I DO NOT CONSIDER THIS POST TO BE GIVING REASON WHY WE LOST THE 2nd LEG ! Clear Now ??
