Club statment from FGR.  As usual it's a bit "mind your own business", a bit of "an apology 'cos I have to (but without actually saying sorry)" and mainly "it's not really our fault we've been hard done by and I'm going to make an official fuss about it" .....

The club wishes to make the following statement to its supporters and sponsors after the match against Eastbourne Borough and make general reference around the discipline code which operates within the club in respect of the playing staff.

In relation to our current poor record of player ‘on field’ discipline, irrespective of any view of refereeing performance and consistency, certain breaches of the Laws of the Game is not acceptable and action is and will always be taken to address this within the guidelines laid down. Supporters can be assured that where any player transgresses those guidelines they are dealt with. How that is done is quite rightly an internal club matter, addressed through consultation between the manager and club officials tasked with that responsibility, although this often results in a financial sanction.

Both Luke Jones and James Bittner profusely apologise for their actions unreservedly after the first goal awarded to Eastbourne Borough. Though both are committed to the club and each has a passion to see the team through its current form, they, the management and the Board of directors agree it was unacceptable what took place between them. Having said that, the club wishes to allay any fears, that there is any problem between the two players or in fact any of the squad. This incident arose purely out of the goal being awarded and under the clubs discipline code the matter has been dealt with internally.

Moving on to deal with a couple of incidents last evening, which caused certain comment, the club wishes to place the following on record. In respect of Eastbourne’s first goal, the club is seeking from the PGMO a clarification on the interpretation of the law on the pattern of play which evolved before it was scored and then awarded?  The club is also seeking an observation as to  when Luke Jones was unable to return to the field of play due to a blood injury, which could not be treated without prolonged medical attention, why Jamie Grimes was prevented from coming on despite the ball being out of play, resulting in the team having to defend a corner with only 9 players on the field?

Finally the playing and management staff are working hard on the training field to return to early season form and are committed to giving 100% for all those who follow the club. The message is quite clear that everyone needs to stay focused and positive throughout all sections of the club and to continue to support the long term aims in all areas of operation, both on and off the field.

Colin Peake - Operations Director.

Apparently the first goal came about when the keeper didn't notice a forward behind him when recieving a back pass and lost posession.  Keeper then "had words" with the defender who gave him the backpass!
