I got the same impression about GH as Hughesy and the majority of other people in room did last night..

I was hoping to come away with the impression that the fight back starts tomorrow against Kiddy ..

Sadly I came back to Shrewsbury feeling flat and that GH was tired and frustrated that after such a good season last season he now feels the team is back to square one..

I feel that if we do not beat Kiddy tomorrow then it could be the end of GH at ML

I hope I am proved wrong and that we kick on from now on in...

Cmon Alty.

Just back...

It was a pretty sombre affair and left me with the impression that GH may not be manager much longer... more of his own choosing rather than being sacked...

Just my opininion in what he said and his body language...

Am off to my pit now im knackered.

I will definitely be there tonight...  :D

I too agree that Matty is really good left back but you have to take into account the type of injury he has suffered and will it have any effect on his confidence..

Altrincham FC First Team / Re: Comparisons.
« on: September 02, 2010, 10:31:23 AM »
The thing is that any new investment or new direction appears to be painted in a lot of peoples minds as straight in the sh*t or bust category.

Surely there's a middle road between an obvious disaster and us struggling to prosper but unable to attract or accomodate new investment?

In my opinion Ray, the comparison is a nonsense mate, in the sense that it's misleading.

I was using Alty and Crawley as a direct comparison rather than comparing us against other clubs that have the money to spend season on season

The way football is administered now we might aswell go and overspend,if we do then you get relegated two leagues and start with a clean slate,if you play it 100% by the book you get left behind and end up getting relegated one division, hardly any difference between playing unibond football and playing bsn football, weve tried to be the model club and watch clubs two levels below ours over take us on and off the field,a sad statement, but a true statement....

The problem with that Pete is, Yes you go down two leagues and even if you manage to claw your way back to the BSP we will be back in the same position we are now, financially speaking...

Altrincham FC First Team / Re: dale johnson released
« on: September 01, 2010, 10:37:27 PM »
I'm not exactly surprised - when I saw that he wasn't in the 16 on Monday afternoon the thought did cross my mind that he could be on the way. What slightly perturbs me is the pretty clear inference that others may follow. As I understand it we can only acquire players who are free agents as of now; and players on loan from next week. How many departures does the management envisage, I wonder? Shame I can't be there tomorrow night to ask that question.

Am I right in thinking that the Forum starts at 7-00 tomorrow?  I am eager to be there but It will be difficult for me to get there by that time.....

If I am not mistaken the type of investment the club is looking for is long term rather than someone pumping in cash like there is no tomorrow and then pissing off when he is bored of it all.

What the club needs is a steady drip feed of cash to make us more competitive rather than the Man City / Creepy approach.

At the end of the day we dont want to be going to bed each night worrying when the bubble is going to burst..

I am also shocked at the departure of Dale and agree with others that his consistency (NOT Committment)  was  questionable even prior to his injury.

I wasnt aware that clubs could still sign players who havent got a club after the deadline..

I also think that GH is shrewd enough to have somebody in mind to replace Dale, otherwise why let him go if you have nobody to replace him with especially as the season has barely got under way.

Interesting next couple of weeks at Altrincham FC both on and off the pitch..

Just as a matter of interest. Is there a website that any of you knowledgable folks are aware of that list the "Out of Work" players

Cmon Alty

Edited to say.... Best wishes Dale whoever you sign for......

Let's be absolutely honest with ourselves. When we all saw the fixture list, not many of us with any sense whatsoever thought that we would get many (if any) points in August. We'd just come off a losing streak at the end of last season and were down to play a series of the bigger teams in the league - crawley's spending just made it worse.

OK I thought we'd get something at Southport too but apart from that, I expected to lose all the games we have played to date.

In other words, we are 2 points, at best, worse off than I thought we'd be.

What we've GOT to do now s stick together, put it all behind us, and get some points from teams we DID expect to capitalise against.

Last season we had it the other way round and got a little ahead of ourselves thinking we might make the play-offs. This is a reality check and we've got to listen to it. We've still got all the games we thought we had a chance in to play and we've not got to let negativity hinder our chances. Let's get behind the lads and in my opinion if we get something oput of the match on staurday we're on our way back.

A couple of wins will pull us out of the bottom set - let's make sure as supporters we encourage the team to do this sooner rather than later!

Come on you SUPERS!

exactly my sentiments Saughall... Totally agree with you

Is there something that sounds like "Hi Ho Alty, Alty Hi Ho"

This could have a thread to itself...thats ones called "I O  Alty"  ;D

I think it formed into that on a variation of "play up Pompey"...

I thought it was a variation of the song that the fkn Oxygen thief Evans used to sing to the inland revenue...

IO you thousands in un paid taxes  ;)
