Why do all the players we sign never seem to be fit??

I think in Hewsons defence he has been looking for a club through pre season and the start of it. Whilst you can train on your own, there is no subsitute for games and structured training.

Micheal Twiss however....I can't answer that one.

IMO this explains the main reason for the lack of firepower... with his reputation and having come from Full time football (Apart from Stalybridge at the end of last season) I think its nothing short of disgraceful that he isnt fit... People like Michael should be setting the standard especially to the other Alty strikers and players in the squad

Born in Alty... Urban Drive in 1953.. started watching Alty with my Dad around 1959/60.. I was Alty's first Mascot in about 62/63 ish ..

Joined the Army in 69 and always watched Alty when on leave where possible...

Have lived in Germany Belize, Belguim. Scotland and various places in South England (Yukkk). Moved to Shrewsbury in 91 for my last two years in the Army  and decided to settle there purely to give the kids some stability in there education..

Have watched various local teams within my area whilst travelling...   Watched Shrewsbury for a couple of seasons but could never get them in my heart. Thats the reason I travel to ML ... Hardly ever miss a home game of any description. We now go to more away fixtures  whenever possible...

Years ago when Alty trained on the pitches at the bottom of Urban Drive.. I used to give the then Alty Right Winger (Think his name was Ronnie Taylor) a cross bar on my bike down to training) he always got a bollocking from the coach  :D

Happy days....

Cmon Alty ...

PS Sinderland Maternity Hospy sounds a fkn busy place  :D

Since our Last League Win against Kiddy in April last season::
York A  Lost
Oxford H Lost
Stevenage H Lost
Luton A Drew
Salisbury A Lost
Cambridge H Lost

This Season
Luton A Lost
Darlington H Drew
Crawley H Lost
Southport A Lost
York A Lost
Mansfield H Lost
Kidderminster H Lost
Gateshead A Lost

Quite a few of those games would have been difficult to get a result in even if Young Senior and Little were still here (bear in mind they have only been missing from this season).

My point is ???? Two of those teams are now in FL2
5 of the rest of those teams are arguably play off candidates.
We normall struggle at Gateshead
We had no midfield at Southport due to injuries
We should have beaten Kiddy..
You can argue we should have got something at Salisbury.

a loss is a loss
How many of those games did you expect us to win then?

A few points :-
I was not at the game today so cannot comment. According to previous match reports Gateshead murdered Southport in the week......a team who were flying high until then. So it's no surprise to me we got beat there today (although I was expecting a point).

If we can turn things around and put some points on the board, then it won't take much to get out of the bottom four.

The majority of the people of the town don't value the club and hence home support is poor. This is the core problem and I cannot see it changing.

Many 'posters' on here were far to optimistic (bordering on the ridiculous) after last season, making this seasons very poor start seem far worse than it actually is. Gateshead were in a very similar position 5 days ago.

It's not over yet.

Agree

I wasnt at the game so will not pass comment on it but will wait in anticipation to hear from the guys who went..

I find it  ironic that 12 months ago the same people who were saying we miss Matty Crowell are now slagging him off..

Perhaps when they get a new man at the ELM they'll CONKER their problems and stop making an ASH of things. To be FIR I think many of their older fans PINE for a return to lower grade football. They just seem to LARCH from one crisis to another. I'll take my BOUGH and LEAF now.

Not that old CHESTNUT again... If they pay the fine they will be OAKay..

I was in Cambridge last night and the pleasure of reading the Cambridge paper this morning.

There was an amusing story about Histon being in the sh*t with the council because they hired some "travellers" to clear some area behind the ground. Turning a blind eye to the fact that 14 of the trees were protected.

Their fine could be £20K, the chairman said he would only be able to pay it at 1p a week!

I wonder which Branch of the bank they will have to pay the fine in to  :D

I'll get me coat...
