When I drove past at lunch there was aready about 100 fans milling about outside soaking up some cup atmosphere...

Ecky,

I think that you will find that they were actually teenage girls waiting for a glimpse of George Heslop and his large briefcase....

That would probably be the Dubai branch of the Hyde overseas fan club..  ;)

I tried to get a photo of the celebration, but i was going mental and sadly couldnt get my phone out in time.

Anyway, i took a photo showing where Densmore's did a 10ft skid on both knees - it's left a bit of a mark.

EPIC SKID

you should publish a collection of those Dan.... "My favourite Skid Marks" by Rocket Dan

Agree with you Phil ... It was handball most definitely. but every footballer at all levels know that until the ball goes out of play or the ref blows that whistle then the game is active...

In this case the ball was in play and the ref had his hands behind his back, no whistle...  Nani got lucky...

Its drilled into every player world wide at any level... Play to the whistle...

Altrincham FC First Team / Re: McCarthy Goes
« on: October 26, 2010, 08:34:45 PM »
I can't see that McCarthy was on decent money, so I can't see it frees up much in the way of funds.

Thought he had good potential and am miffed he's gone.

The only two players who will be on a good wedge and non-contract are Coburn and Lawton I think. Coburn ain't going any where but it would not surprise me if Lawton went.

I cant believe you made that statement...

We could have done with him on Sat against Gateshead

I here what your saying Ecky... However, playing 1 up top in the FA Cup at home was a tad negative to say the least.. I would rather have seen us lose 4-1 having a fkn  good crack at it than the tactics we used...  I dont care what anybody says, but in my view  Lawton and / or Danylyk are a must if we want to stand a chance of winning the midfield battle.....

Onwards and Upwards to Hayes & Yeading next Saturday

Cmon Alty.......

Yep just on loan to gain more fitness...  I really would not have seen the logic in getting shut of one of our better players.. There is nobody that has come in since last season who would keep Matty out of our team

Get fit soon and come back Buzz .... We fkn need you

Altrincham FC First Team / Re: The (sweet) FA Cup....
« on: October 23, 2010, 10:44:08 PM »
Agree with other comments on this topic that playing just one up front at home especially in the cup cannot be a great idea.. Twiss doesnt strike me as being a lone striker type of player and I felt would have benefitted more if say Reeves was alongside him.. We havent got any midfielders who can burst forward and support the fwds and there is always a gaping hole when opposition defences clear the ball, we never have anybody to pick up the bits and maintain the pressure on them...

I still maintain that if we are going to get out of the mess we are in then a place in midfield must be found for at least either Danylyk or Lawton.. Classic play makers they are not but they do break up play and give us a platform to push forward...

If we want to progress in the cup competitions then lets get after teams from the off.

Gateshead seemed to have come for a draw and get us back at there place next Tues....

I hate to say this folks but today the  "Eternal Optimist" had a bit of a reality check and I now fear for us for the rest of the season.... Kenny Mc and Bimson have done well with what they have done so far and seem to have bought in some decent loan players but time is pushing on now and we have a batch of tricky league  games on the horizon..

Players of Altrincham FC... Your fans need you more than ever now to stand up and be counted... Try your best and we will support you all the way.......

Cmon ALTY...

It appears that Matt Doughty has joined Nantwich Town and starred toady in their 3-1 victory over Whitby. I was expecting him to return to the fold but is this no longer the case?

I take it you mean has joined Nantwich on loan ?? and not permanently
