cambridge leading at wolves :-[
-
farsley 1 up
-
Plenty of Oxford pressure but no real chances
Stafford 1 down
-
McAllister scores on debut for Oxford - 1 down
But Histon equalise & then take the lead v Fasrsley
-
Come on Alty, lets get back in the game
-
Even allowing for local radio bias, it sounds like Oxford are playing well
Halifax losing to Woking
-
Sounds as if we are giving them to much space in the middle of the park
-
McAllister looks like trouble. I think maybe the commentators made too much of a possible penalty, but sounds like the Oxford player got into a good position.
"Alty defence all over the place"
-
"Altrincham defence all over the place" :-\
-
Not sounding too good
-
Sounds like Peyton best of Alty players
Weymouth 2 down - they are in freefall
Vics 1 down
-
Good save from Stu
-
Sounds like we are being completely outplayed. If we can just hold out until half time...
-
Logan's on the bench we might need him this time
Trouble.........Stu booked (could have been sent off)
Bollox! 2-0 down
-
Even the biased commentators were puzzled by the penalty.
-
and Droylesden 1 up on Crawley.
Weymouth 3 down
-
0-2...Sums up the year....even their commentators say we have a dodgy offside call against Pat and they go right down the pitch, get a pen and score >:(
-
Bloods winning could cause us problems.
-
0-2...Sums up the year....even their commentators say we have a dodgy offside call against Pat and they go right down the pitch, get a pen and score >:(
Typical Alty luck this season
Stafford 2 down
-
Bloods winning could cause us problems.
They could be dark horses for the 2nd half of the season
-
Great - it's the best Oxford have played for months. We didn't play Vics until they were on a bit of form. When we will get someone on a bad day :(
-
We need to worry about ourselves, althoughh it says they are playing the best in months.
-
With Andy refereeing today we are luck Stu's still on the pitch
-
You just think that they've got enough goals in them and that one or two defenders will make a big difference.
-
Great - it's the best Oxford have played for months. We didn't play Vics until they were on a bit of form. When we will get someone on a bad day :(
Its an old cliche isn't it but "Thats the way it goes when you are at the bottom" :(
-
Very true, what is GH going to do?
-
Great - it's the best Oxford have played for months. We didn't play Vics until they were on a bit of form. When we will get someone on a bad day :(
We did.
Weymouth at Moss Lane!
-
On the whole it is just typical Alty luck, but don't forget what we did at Halifax having been outplayed early doors
But its only 3 shots on target to 1 (& 1 each off target) and posession 53% v 47%
We are not out of this
-
Sounds terrible at Abingdon - for those not on the radio the game has been suspended for 30mins - ambulence on pitch after nasty broken leg inducing challenge
-
it looks quite a close game on BBC text
-

"Leg the other way!"
Our best wishes to the player
-
am i missing something here? where is abingdon and does it affect us?
all the best to whoever it is
-
it looks quite a close game on BBC text
all one way traffic according to radio oxford
-
Logan's on the bench we might need him this time
Trouble.........Stu booked (could have been sent off)
Bollox! 2-0 down
According to bbc live text no booking
-
Did Stu get a yellow as not showing yet onBBC
-
am i missing something here? where is abingdon and does it affect us?
all the best to whoever it is
Abingdon is close to Oxford. Yes, it does affect us - it affects a footballer and we have had this happen at ML
Meanwhile, with regard to how much closer it is on BBC text - remember local bias!
-
The abingdon refereces are from Radio Oxford who have a guy reporting from Abingdon and sounds very grim indeed
-
I didn't think he got a yellow
-
Commentators seemed to suggest he had (unless I misheard) but Sporting Life also shows no card. Maybe they said "Not even a yellow" or something
-
Vics 2 down
-
cheers for that info, i know it affects us as people and football supporting people, but i actualy meant directly. Cheers anyway, and I hope he returns sometime
-
bbc shows this --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
48:28 Booking Yemi Odubade (Oxford Utd) booked for unsporting behaviour.
but nothing for Coburn
-
Oxford United are the best team ever in the history of football.*
*I am listening to the commentary on Radio Oxford.
**Although Altrincham do seem to be making things pretty easy for them. New Years Day was a false dawn.
-
bbc shows this --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
48:28 Booking Yemi Odubade (Oxford Utd) booked for unsporting behaviour.
but nothing for Coburn
Booked for diving, but the commentators still reckon it should have been an Oxford pen
-
Joe on for McFadds
Meanwhile we are 3 down to goal of the century!
-
Oh dear this is in danger of becoming another hiding. I hope we hold it together and get one back -just for the confidence.
-
Jeff Stelling: "After the famine comes the feast!"
Typically against us
Alty apparently "on the rack"
-
Jeff Stelling: "After the famine comes the feast!"
Typically against us
Possibly because our defence is awful?
52 goals conceded in the league now.
-
Lol but why do i not feel down even though we are losing 3-0
-
is there a transfer window for managers?
-
Lol but why do i not feel down even though we are losing 3-0
Maybe you're drunk? Maybe cos the luck must come our way some time this season
I think the best we can hope for is a couple of goals from Crawley
-
is there a transfer window for luck? because we need some of the good
-
is there a transfer window for managers?
Its not GH's fault if Oxford are playing out of their skins today
-
Well...this afternoon is now about the results of the other teams around us in the table. As things stand, just need Crawley to do us a favour.
-
they've been crap all season, they are playing out of their skins because we are letting them.
-
they've been crap all season, they are playing out of their skins because we are letting them.
Here we go again. Lets all get behind the team!
3 days ago it was all positive.
-
oh i'll get behind the team but i'd like to see them organised into a shape that doesn't resemble a Moses managed Red Sea,
-
It's the manner of the defeat which is worrying. It could have been (could still be!) 10-0. I'm not suggesting we should have got a result from this game, but it has been a complete capitulation by the sounds of it.
-
am i missing something here? where is abingdon and does it affect us?
all the best to whoever it is
Call me whatever you like Butty but that is just appalling I'm afraid.
It's another example of the 'we only care about Alty and everywhere else and everybody else doesn't really matter' mentality which occasionally besmirches our club.
Some poor guy has his leg on back to front, is in intense pain and may well lose his job here
-

3 days ago it was all positive.
And for 4 months before that it was all negative.
-
exactly, the commentator has just said the oxford haven't managed three goals IN TOTAL in their previous ten games.

is it my fault that my computer will not let me use bbc's radio services therefore limiting my knowledge of it? I was purely asking for some information about the incident and if it would be affecting our match. Can you please point out to me where i said everywhere else (or even that particular incident) doesn't matter to me? If i didn't give a toss, why would I have wished him all the best? I find these allegations very annoying
-
as things stand according to sky combined with my kowledge because they cocked alty up
halifax 29 -2
weymouth 23 -11
farsley 20 -22
alty 18 -24
droylesden 13 -30
northwich 13 -32
stafford 10 -28
-
see from The BBc live text it looks quiet close 51%/49%
-
ATS - I didn't read Butty's comment in that way at all - he wished the guy all the best and was just asking who he was.
Abingdon game abandoned now - dislocated ankle
-
Oxford were one of the pres season title favourites and were right up toward the top for the 1st part of the season. They have been playing below par for the last couple of months but they are still a full time team of some quality. We are a part time team rebuilding and - yes - not having a good game. But lets not give up hope

Oxford Utd Altrincham
-
not really been using it much but i did see lots of the words Altrincham and attacking around, good to see
-
the guy at abingdon has a dislocated ankle. the game has been abandoned.
-
Good news: Crawley have equalised v Droylesden
-
Thank God for Crawley. Another one please!
-
Droylsden 1-1
-
Could do without Vics getting another.
-
not really been using it much but i did see lots of the words Altrincham and attacking around, good to see
Usually in the following sentence:
"Oxford are attacking Altrincham."
-
we are fortunate that what was an awful bottom four is becoming an awful bottom six. we might not have to imporve much to get out of the mire.
-
Could do without Vics getting another.
can you please say altrincham will now score four and hold out?
-
Sounds like many of you have given up.
Pull yourselves together!
-
i still beleive it is possible but am resigned to defeat. Look at it. 10 minutes to go and we need 4. Maybe this is what being York feels like, hope we can do a similar job now
-
Logan's coming on.....we're not out of it yet!
-
Logan on...what's the point now?
-
butty why did you have to mention the word four?
if we were going to give up we would have done that when we were relegated to the unibond.
-
Well said Hamilton.
Damn! 4!
The result is sh1te, and Jennifer's nappy agrees!
Logan on for Alty - maybe a bit late, however!
-
Jennifer's nappy is bollocks? ???
-
butty why did you have to mention the word four?
if we were going to give up we would have done that when we were relegated to the unibond.
Sounds like you feel that is where we should be. Lets just get over this match and look forward to some better results
-
Jennifer's nappy is bollocks? ???
Good point. I changed that (the word & the nappy)
-
Sounds like we missed little and Senior upfront, rather blunt today.
-
YESSSSS! Crawley ahead v Droylesden (taking comfort from something today!
-
Bottom 6 all losing
-
Sounds like we missed little and Senior upfront, rather blunt today.
But we just cannot seem to keep clean sheets.
Only two so far in 25 league games.
-
i accept that the new players might need a bit of time to gel together, but you surely have to have hoped that changing half the team would produce something better than a thumping. A battling one or two-nil defeat ok, but it looks like we've barely had an attempt on goal and letting in four shows poor defending, not good attacking.
-
Cannot see us scoring 5 now though
-
Sounds like we missed little and Senior upfront, rather blunt today.
But we just cannot seem to keep clean sheets.

It is very very frustrating, especially when so many people have praised Lane, Shotton & Tinson over the season.
-
Time to try Acton or has he left the club also?
-
Who would say that Coventry are better than Blackburn by 4 goals to 1? ? ? ? ? ?

we have praised them three, becuase they have done a good job. If you drew a diagram as to where the goals are coming from, it is th other player out of those three that makes a back four where we have shipped goals
-

FA Cup is different. Maybe you need to have a look at Altrincham's results over the course of the season.
-
The game finished on Sky before it finished on the radio!
-
To put this result into perspective, top of the league Aldershot 2-1 at Northwich, second place Stevenage 2-1 at Stafford, mid-table Oxford 4-0 against Altrincham.
-
Like UC says, a battling one or two goal defeat (as was expected by most of us) would have been acceptable. A 4-0 drubbing with no shots on target is atrocious no matter what spin people place on it. It is some consolation that the bottom 6 all look as bad as each other. The games at Weymouth and Droylsden and at home to Stafford and Farsley now become crucial.
-
"Alty never set out to draw this game." Maybe we should have been more defensive? "Normal service resumed!"
On the plus side, I get Jennifers milk for her & she gave the loveliest of smiles. The world is so much better again!
-
can she play up front?
-
We need her up front, middle & at the back!
-
Just recieved this text by someone at the game Oxford 4 Alty 0 We can't competete with some of these teams.
-
some? how about any?
-

-

She's agreat dribbler!
-
few comments on the radio from there fans after the game i.e. it was easy although it was only alty, good win but alty were very poor, and worst team to visit oxford this season. in reality just about sums us up. luck you make your own by running for everything and being first to the 40/60 ball ala the vics game.as alty supporters we give everything think its about time we got something back from the staff ?
-
Something to prove on Tuesday then!!!!!

Sorry Butty, as much as I have praised Darren Tinson, as much as I like Ryan Shotton and as sound as Laney initially was that's a load of bollocks pal. I know the left back slot is a problem but it hasn't cost us 52 league goals.
For me any of the entire back 5 could be replaced at any time, it's not bad luck. Maybe we need 4 battlers across the middle or maybe we need to change to 5 at the back. I don't know. but 'them three' unfortunately have not done a good job.
-
Of today's midfield, will any of them have been a holding midfielder protecting the back 4?
-

King?

Firstly an apology to Butty.
I'd posted my diatribe before I'd read your post fully. I'll hold may hands up to that one and, as I said apologise to you unreservedly. It wasn't supposed to be a personal attack really, more a criticism of the occasionally parochial and insular view espoused by certain of our following when any team or location other than Alty gets a mention
Secondly, maybe I've not actually been talking total crap all season and, contrary to popular rumour Mr Tinson is not the player he was at Burton or is purported to be here?
Suggestions if I may.
Lane at RB, Shotton and the guy from Halifax in the middle and Jennings? at LB. Nice card, cake, pipe and slippers for Tinson and let's see how the rest of the season goes

Phil-the suggestion that Tinson should be dropped is ludicrous in my view.Yes he did make an error for the first goal on Saturday & by his own exceptonally high standards he was below par.......but he was in good company. He may go on to play dreadfully for the rest of the season but for me he & Chris Senior have been our best players of the season to date by some margin.
-

Errr... Chris Lane?
I like Tinno dont know why he isnt scoring goals anymore, he use to bang them in from set pieces all the time at the start of the season.
-
Although we have not conceded 52 goals from the left back position, a lot of them have come from that area. Take out goals that have come from errors/defending mistakes there, and we may be left with a fairly respectable total. However, contrary to the beleif of ballers, I am not saying that lane tinson and shotton are 100% blame free. Ok, yes, they have leaked occasionally, but can you name me a defender in the conference who has not either a)had an off day, or b)is always perfect and cannot be blamed for any goals his side concede.
-

I rate Chris Lane very highly & believe that he was a good signing, but his performance level has dropped quite substantially in the last three months. He was outstanding in pre-season & the early part of the campaign but hasn't reached those levels since.
Darren Tinson scored twice in consecutive games against Aldershot & York but he is not a goalscorer. He scored one goal for Shrewsbury & none for Burton & in the last twelve years he has scored just six times.
