Title: this gave me a boost...
Post by: Mount Street Alty on January 23, 2013, 08:54:38 AM
From the BBC sportsday; Nick Smith on Twitter:? "The most underrated cup shock still Altrincham's win at Birmingham in '86. Non league v top division club, David Seaman & all."

beating what are turning out to be premier leagues whipping boys  isn't such a feat imo,

the league cup is a dead rubber in most calanders.

You got me baffled here Jacko

What on earth is the connection between us winning in the FA Cup as a Non League side and Bardford beating Aston Villa in the LEAGUE Cup as a Football League side?

my point is :its not an underrated cup shock or anywhere near the feat we pulled against birmingham as villa are just a bunch of kids getting relegated while birmingham were an experienced side. understand?

I'm not so sure that Villa are a bunch of kids. There's a few seasoned pros in their team, and the "kids" thing is probably an excuse they've been hiding behind for some time.

Given that the Premiership is richer than ever, and given that this was a two legged affair, I think the performance from Bradford last night (and over the two legs) was outstanding.

Any cup competition, once it gets to the semi-final stage is not a dead rubber, certainly not with a trip to Wembley for the victors.

Well done the under-dogs.
