Will be looking forward to another season in the Conference North as FC Halifax Town overcome Salford in their play off semi final. As a true aficionado of value for money grassroots football I'm sure he's really looking forward to it.

Altrincham FC First Team / Next Season - Starting Now says Robbie Lawton?

Sounds rather like it to me. The current management must have been offered the job for 2017-8 otherwise on whose authority are they securing players' services? The core of players RL talks about should now be the first names on the team sheet going forward. Unfortunately, the remaining league games (beyond damage limitation in some cases) are really ultra competitive friendlies in preparation for next season.

Not earth shattering, but perhaps it'll start the pieces moving.

Another goal scorer in the 1-5 defeat at the Badgers Nest. A while ago now but seem to remember him as a useful forward, any better informed thoughts?

Altrincham FC First Team / Taking Stock of Today

Defeats - nothing new, the modern history of this club saw plenty of those against lesser clubs than Curzon Ashton in the Unibond.

Two events characterise the situation we are currently in. Firstly, today saw the 20th player make their debut for Altrincham FC in a league game this season - after 6 fixtures.

Secondly, I am reliably informed our new signing Fábio Bassangue was unable to understand his team mates instructions and was substituted early in the first half on the request of our captain. This in itself would suggest a lack of attention to detail on the part of the management, but beggars belief given we are led to believe he has taken part in a number of training sessions with the squad.

I completely understand the desire to back a new appointment and I, like very many, liked NY's stated 'vision'. However I am sure the Board would never of have thought when appointing him that 24 players would have made an appearance before August Bank Holiday, or that one would've been acquired without the ability to communicate with other players.

Simply, this is chaotic and has to stop, for the sake of all concerned not least NY himself. I attach no blame to the Board at all, but this experiment has reached its conclusion.

GOODALL SITUATION SETTLED

Altrincham's joint Press and Media Officer, John Edwards, writes that "Following the completion of his Morecambe contract, Alan Goodall can now be confirmed as an Altrincham player. Manager Neil Young was delighted to be able to announce the vastly-experienced defensive midfielder's signing and believes his addition to the squad will prove invaluable, in terms of personal contribution and the effect on those around him.

'Alan is someone I know well, and it is clear he has had a great career in the Football League,' said the Alty boss. 'He will bring his qualities and experience to our squad and will be an ideal role model for the younger players to learn from.'

Born in Birkenhead, the versatile 34-year old, who can operate in midfield or defence, launched his career at Bangor City before making over 100 appearances for Rochdale. He had spells with Luton, Chesterfield, Stockport County and Fleetwood before joining Morecambe for a successful two-year stint at The Globe Arena.

Thoughts? If it was us I'd be very embarrassed if we didn't let Braintree walk a goal in. Cue Figgy on professionalism.

Many of Altys FA Cup glories were played out on blustery Monday nights at Moss Lane. With no £60 odd grand either. That's real Cup tradition. Just saying.....

Great service as always, this new touchline camera doing the officials no favours again: 11:09 clear handball, we're denied a penalty.

Following that nonsense in Blyth I found myself in SC**thorpe Sainsbury's later that same week and thought it looked familiar. November 1974 saw Alty travel to The Old Showground and record a famous draw with a John Hughes equaliser. We won the replay 3-1 before facing Blackburn  in a 3 day week epic in the next round. A further visit in 1980 and a 0-0 before Joe Neenan's knees up in the replay saw that trip to Anfield.

Any more ex grounds with a happy Alty story attached?

After today, I am one. We're playing the right way but lack pace and physicality esp up front. Let's be clear, for us to "out Nuneaton Nuneaton"  Nicky Clee, Simon Richman, Ryan Crowther, Jake Moult and Adam Griffiths need to be shipped out. Personally, I think that would be daft, were playing decent stuff, my fear is we'll become everyone's fav team to play against. That said, I've more faith in LS at this standard than for the last 3 years. At this stage we've got to suck it up and see - no easy answers IMHO

The team that made Alty?

Along with Roy Rees and Tony Saunders I can count 6 who went on to play for us a couple of years later, John Owens would've made it 7. Any mature readers recognise any more faces?

Also, this is a decent account of all things St Andrews:-
