4-2-3-1?
Could work. I'd be quite happy with that XI.
-
Mouth watering
-
I'd go with that but I think we may see clee at left back and lawrie left mid also think brooke or mitchley may start
-
I wonder what went through Messrs Brooke and Mitchleys minds when Damian signed on, the thought of playing every game is now very unlikely I would have thought.
I reckon Socrates has it spot on, Doughty at LB and Clee playing winger is surely the only way.
-
Thought we were playing Wrexham

And then that lot whose fans hate the Glazers but still watch United down the pub.

4-2-3-1 formation
Coburn
Densmore - RB
Clee- LB
Hall - CB
Havern - CB
Rogers DM
Lacey - DM
Watmore - Right AM
Lawrie - Left AM
Phelan - central AM
Reeves CF
Change of formation, but releases Watmore and Lawrie to support Reeves and means we would have to play the ball on the deck....

I think Brooke and Mitchley should f**k off
Lacey for Phelan also

They are very poor

Phelan is going to be a key player for us this season. Brooke went into midfield when he came on - not his forte. Mitchley had his best game so far (apart from falling over when he got practically clean through).
Tolerably happy with our squad, ask me again at the end of this month.

Shameful post. Not kicked a competitive ball yet. Typical nameless critic on here, give them a chance

Coudnt put it better myself (moron) how old are they 22 good age to be molded and you want them to leave?
Here what i think of them 2 young players abit shy of full season experience Brooke nice 2 goals and a few misses he should have scored all positive in my opinion Mitchley clearly something different than weve had stregnth hard work and intelligence off the ball is what ive seen we wont get out this league with a 1 trick poney we need a team, and i think we have it.
JDN if you have nothing good to contribute than silly remarks then no one wants to hear it!
-
I think they've had more than enough time to prove themselves.
Most new players are told they are rubbish and not wanted before they've set foot on the pitch!!
-
5 pre season games is enough to prove yourself? You must know alot about fitness, the manager is sticking with them and hes happy how about we do the same.
Anyone got anything positive to say coming off the end of a solid pre season ???

But Mitchley does look poor... That doesn't mean he'll be poor and I believe it's a confidence issue which will be built with confidence
Brooke looks to be better and will probably get more game time that Mitchley

Fair point stoke it is confidence for both i also think its fitness given i was informed he hadnt played 90 minutes in about 6 months through injury
Ive managed to catch all are pre season games so far and from what ive seen the better footballer goes to Mitchley comes back when needed looks to bring others into play and gives people options, that isnt saying Brooke hasnt got it i rate both really in what they offer to the game.
I just think we would be daft to right anyone off who was rated highly enough to play in the championship b4 a broken foot especially after 5 pre season games dont you ?
-
I've said many times on here that being a striker is all about confidence. Mitchley had his best game so far yesterday. I'm not totally convinced, but his running off the ball and positional awareness are good. Hit the net a couple of times, and we may yet see a decent player.

I've got no idea what system or what players will be deployed. More worrying is the fact that i dont think LS knows either.
-
Well damian cant be employed as a lone striker, hes not fit enough yet. Nicky Clee shouldnt be at left back (even in a 4-4-2), Shaun densmore should be playing right back, not in mdifield.

playing players in the wrong position, sounds like we need a season to let our manager get used to the club..... oh hang on
-
To play devils advocate, a squad of only 18 players means lads will probably have to fill in elsewhere this term due to injury/suspension.I would however have played our strongest possible side,or as close to what he wants against brackley as possible last night in their strongest positions.
-

The wrong position in your opinion. What about the argument that Nicky Clee is currently the best left back at the club? Work to do for Doughty yet in my opinion.
He still got forward in the first half to get three decent crosses in.
Certainly away from home there are some very good arguments for him playing there.

Doughty still undoubtedly has to get fully up to speed, but I still feel Nicky is wasted at full back - although I think he's less than fully fit (see my comment last night re long throws !).
I would nevertheless agree with Socrates on 10 positions, but I'd play Lacey instead of Rodgers, who also strikes me as less than 100% fit, and who was absolutely dire last night.
Having watched Scott Leather, I think it's possible that he could also fill our problem left back spot - he seems perfectly able to operate on either side of the pitch.
-
sorry Phil , at full back Scott Leather worries me , he gave the ball away time after time and even set up the sub striker of FC with a lovely nodded pass . sub CB FOR ME
-
Also the reason LB has become a problem is the managers fault, he signed Grimshaw , who he doesnt trust and Doughty, who isnt fit, neither is Clee , he should have played Grimshaw at LB in Pre season more and brought Buzz in slowley to take over for the start of the season. Buzz is still not fully fit because of trying to impress LS early doors so Clee seems the prefered LB which does seem a waste of attacking flair

4-4-2, just not a rigid one, giving Watmore a free role to interchange with lawrie and or Clee.I thought you of all people with all your coaching badges would know that

What about the argument that Nicky Clee is currently the best left back at the club?
Possibly true.
However, to my mind, that is a cause for concern rather than a testament to the manager's squad construction.
We've had all Summer to get this left full back vacancy sorted.
Will Doughty yet prove to be the answer?
I certainly hope so but I honestly don't know.
And I'm beginning to wonder if the manager knows either, to be honest.
Doughty has only played a full 90 minutes in one of our pre-season friendlies.
It's such a waste of Clee's creative talents to play him at left full back, in my view.
Plus we then invariably end up with Lawrie stuck out on the left wing, where he is far less effective.

i have not been to any pre season games so hard for me to comment really however i do know this is Lees squad no excuses this year i expect a big improvment in our form this year and i have my fingers crossed for improvments in the trophy and fa cup however we seemed cursed in these matches

I'd be surprised if Sinnott didn't include Richman in his starting XI.
Still fear that Clee will be located at left full back.
I don't see Watmore starting the match somehow.

This would be my starting XI too, but I rather fear that Clee will be left back, and Lawrie will play left with Richman to his right.

-
Lee has seen the players in training and seen or seen reports on Brackley
If he plays Nicky at left back then it is because he thinks he is the best man for the job He may not have the tactical know how like some of the experienced managers on here like V of D but I trust him to make the call as he sees it
Looking forward to tomorrow and I'm bringing 2 pals again so hope we can play well

"I must not fear.
Fear is the mind-killer.
Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration.
I will face my fear.
I will permit it to pass over me and through me.
And when it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path.
Where the fear has gone there will be nothing.
Only I will remain."
