City Fans United - Chester City Supporters Trust

Press Statement

10/03/2010

"Today, 125 years of history of Chester City Football Club was ended at
the High Court, and this was a sad culmination in a period of turbulence
that has seen the club slip out of the Football League for a second
time, fail to pay its employees, and failing to fulfil fixtures in the
Football Conference, resulting in an embarrassing expulsion from their
competition.

The decision to liquidate the club now allows a new era of football in
Chester to commence, an era in which we feel will be a major boost to
the community of Chester, and an era that all supporters can be proud of
as it is they who will form the life of the reformed club.

Upon news of the liquidation, City Fans United has today submitted an
application to The Football Association to reform the club, and we will
be working extremely closely with Supporters Direct, who will help guide
us through the process of reformation.

We will also be liaising with the Cheshire West & Chester Council, who
have been very supportive of our plans to deliver an open, honest
football club, properly run by the fans and which encapsulates the whole
community.

Despite this being a sad end to the last 125 years, City Fans United are
now prepared for the new era, and encourage anyone not currently a
member of CFU, to sign up via www.cityfansunited.com and be part of the
football club that intends to rise from the ashes of its predecessor."

"We will continue to keep everyone informed as we move along the process
through our usual channels of communication, including our website."

For more please contact Jeff Banks from City Fans United on 07736 925465

Ends

From our official website, they can get into our game on Saturday with their season ticket at a reduced rate, so they can be plastic alty fans for the rest of the season   ;D

the council are now in the process of booting the parasite vaughan out of the ground and seem positive about letting a phoenix club move straight in.

This is a good day for jester, and a good day for their footballing future. no doubts whatsoever.

Its a bad day when clubs go under god knows we have come close once or twice but i hope their fans (who are the victims in all this) can start a phoenix club, and if they call it AFC Chester don' t let people state the obvious and say its Chester City under a new name and complain about it a la AFC Halifax. It doesn,t matter what the name is the team will represent Chester and those fans sold down the river, they will play in blue and white stripes and hopefuly one day regain their league status just like Aldershot and Accrington Stanley. i for one wish them the best of luck.

I hope they don't call it AFC Chester - they all seem to do the "AFC" thing - I hope they go back simply to "Chester" as it used to be in the good old days.

Chester City fans choose new club name

Fans working to reform Chester City in time for the start of next season have decided on a new name for the club.
Following a vote organised by City Fans United the revived club will revert to the name 'Chester Football Club'.
The decision revives the name that the original club carried until adding the word 'City' to their title in 1983.
More than 1,000 fans took part in the vote and chose the name ahead of other choices, City of Chester FC, Chester Rovers FC and FC Chester.
Chester FC polled 70% of the votes cast.
City Fans United spokesman Jeff Banks said: "The fans want to go back to the name Chester Football Club as that's the name that everyone used to associate us with."
Chester City were wound up at a High Court hearing earlier this month after failing to pay £26,125 in taxes.
They were expelled from the Football Conference in February.
The fans group hope to enter the reformed club in a lower league and still play their home games at the Deva Stadium.

They must read our forum!

If any fans club deserves a swift rise its that one.

I hope they'll be slotting 5 past FCUM in the near future!
