Went to watch curzon ashton today...
« on: March 03, 2007, 06:03:52 PM »

they're good!

worst pitch i've seen in a while but they still managed to put some good football together, they won 4-1 if anyones wondering against a leamington team who were 28 games unbeaten and 20points ahead in their league.

Serious note on they're front man Mike Norton he's worth a look so far this season he has 43 goal in all competitions and despite not scoring today was the maker of three of the goals, is good in the air and did not stop moving! Definately a class above, been on trials at notts forest and despite scoring a hattrick was not signed, mabe a close season target at least a triallist. i asked about and he's on 100 a week so would be better value for money than bowler or thompson!

How many did the mighty leamington take ? They are being bank rolled and have a chairman promising the world (will fall flat on face)

Also If I win the raffle I'm donating my place to Bowler or Thomson, just so they can see what its like to be involved in the first team, its the only way they'll get in.

bout 650 he may be promising the world but 5 straight promotions and 20 points clear he may have some way to a point, granted its an inferior league compared to the NWC what with there being 6 clubs all of a very good quality.

i don't know how much they are being bankrolled they are averaging 500 a week attendance and one of their fans said the wage budget is inside that but then they do have that young lad who coventry released for drink driving despite his supposed quality.

Trust me I read about Leamington in the local paper.

They are spending a lot of money on players and are outbidding Rugby Town for players all the time (Thats transfers and wages).

the chairman is trying his best with the set up and back room stuff but the ground is in the middle of nowhere and I just have a feeling its going to all go wrong when they start losing.

Any other players stand out? The Official site mentioned that Steven Clegg was playing for them; was he left back & any good?

to be honest i didn't even realise it was him but yes he was good esp going forward cut every thing out that came near him, i think he was playing wingback. the number 5 Adam Jones was solifd too, but it was more going forward they impressed fantastic passing & movement. they seemed to pick the correct pass every time and even long balls ended up with their man, might go maine road next week as i'm not going to weymouth. i'll let you kno some more when i see the forwards against some sort of a challenge but lets put it that way they are playing watchable football.

another note curzon ashton 898 for the FA VASE! northwich 810 in the FA TROPHY! top wage @ curzon £100 top wage at Northwich £1,???

Watched Curzon a few times this season (not just against FCUM) and they're a decent side and certainly the best we've played this year.  Although their front two are on fire, they've scored 4 in the last 2 games without either of them scoring so the goals seem to be coming from all around the side.  Maybe it's the Joz Mitten effect  ;)

nope the goals all come from them, but its just that they're not the ones putting the finishing touches in! the number 7 moore may not do anything all match then all of a suddden is in the right place as if from no where but the number 9 norton was everywhere anyway!

Its a big step up to the conf but he still might be worth a trial or something.

Fan scouting is the way forward! Did you try any fan 'tapping up'? You know, a quiet word in the ear, test the water so to speak. I hear that Chelsea have published a book on it, so anyone can give it a go these days!

How do the transfer rules work with this? Could we sign him on-loan or something, providing he didnt have a spell in a foreign land in the recent past he could be a good signing!

aye a bit of fan tapping up, was talking to one of the reserve team's dads getting the lowdown!

it's a big step up a very big one but if those 40 goals even turned into just 10 we'd be in a better position than we are @ the moment and as i said before it was not his goals i was impressed by

If Notts Forest have been interested, who else?

Alty would be a good move for him, but he may br tempted by someone with more money (The same old story!)
