Adam Flynn.....an own goal AND a red card on his debut at Harrogate. And it managed to go downhill from there !

To be fair to LS he may have managed those players but he didn't sign a fair few of them (take a bow GH and KM).

There was Brian Junior Smikle however - scored a belter at the chequers end and that was about it

I thought that was scored at the away end. I'm almost certain that it was against Gloucester. The only reason I remember it so well is, not only because it was a miracle, but I'm fairly sure I commentated on the game.

Yes, I believe you're right. I always remember Brian Smikle by when Kyle Perry dedicated his playoff final performance to him  ;D

Yes, you're absolutely right- realised after I posted that Smikles finest moment was  at the chequers end, he walloped it in off the cross bar ...

Not quite correct there, Phil, in your recounting of Adam Flynn's admittedly abject debut for Alty.

The lumbering oaf didn't manage to score an own goal on that afternoon, however, he did concede TWO penalties and receive a red card.

I'm struggling to think of examples of more calamitous debuts for the club!
