Altrincham FC First Team / Re: Perferations !!!
« on: August 15, 2008, 01:04:03 PM »
I have to pre-tear my son's ticket book whilst in the queue to start it off for him and he is a teenager ! I thought it was just us.

I will insist at the next fans' forum that the club does a Northwich and spends £100k on an electronic credit card style 'swipe-in' season ticket for next years campaign so we don't have the hassle.

Maybe Dino has spent his budget on 16 players when it should have stretched to 20.....if this is the case, then the board will be a bit peeved to say the least.

Thanks Cult, it is very similar...but the 'Rafo' version seems to be being played on Rolf's Stylephone and a bazooka.

I think the music at the end of the game was the old ITV World of Sport theme:

I agree...........Fanfare must stay

Can anyone tell me what the tune is that Rafo plays at the end of a game as the players make their way back in.........been meaning to ask for ages and this post now gives me a convenient vehicle to ask such a boring question

I have very good friend who is an Exeter supporter.........I texted him when Alty signed Lee Elam. I have copied his reply below :-

"He will do well for you, but sometimes you don't know he's playing. I now expect Little to get you 30 goals next season"

If I buy a new house on the Chequers car park, Graham can come and watch the game from my bathroom window and stay in communicado with GB via two-way radio. In fact he could shout instructions from there anyway (at risk of receiving abuse from the away support though)....................now what are the Conference Board going to do about that !!!

Seriously though, I support this move by the Conf, but as others have already said how will they actively enforce it. In fact it is good to see the Conf getting tough in a number of areas.

We nearly lost a player to a broken leg at Kendal in the FA Cup game due to a very late, malicious tackle. Hope this one was just clumsy.

Top post!!! This is exactly the reason why we survived in our first season in the Conference...until the FA were knobs of course.
[/quote]

The Conference applied 'their' rules and hence we got a points deduction............like it or not, but all the FA did was 'ensure' that the Conference applied the rules of the league correctly.
Yes, we made a genuine mistake and the punishment handed out to Alty was both draconian and simply ridiculous. However the punishment just followed the 'rules' and to be fair, to our benefit, the 'rule' book has also been thrown at Scarborough, Boston and Halifax

If the board had cancelled the game, there would be criticism from some quarters and also possible future implications for the club.......... If the board allow the game to go ahead, then there is criticism from some quarters and possible future implications for the club !

They are in a no-win situation and I trust them to make the decision that they believe to be the best decision for Altrincham FC. They are the Board and it is their job to do that and not ours.
Whether or not we agree with the decision depends on where we stand on the issue and also being in possession of the same knowledge and details etc etc. However they have a pretty good record so far.

I think most people will agree that the Board are approachable people and will at least discuss the matter. This is something that most clubs at our level don't have ie a board who discuss matters with fans. I know that many people will say they don't listen, but we need to reflect on this comment and ask how much we believe this to be true.

To finish, I am glad I don't have to make this decision, because I can see good reasons to both cancel and to play, but I will place my trust in the Board on this one and sit on the fence.

CB, I think you owe an apology to the stewards and club officials. Your criticism is way over the top.....in previous years parents with small children turned up ! Not k**b heads !

Chris Senior when he came on started on the wing for Peyton who was subbed at HT. When Luke Horrocks came on and occupied the left side, Chris was pushed up front.

Lane and Young did indeed partner each other, however for me it was hard to tell how it went because Alty were keeping the ball a lot in the middle and they weren't tested too often.Lane did make a certain goal saving interception at one point though.

Very enjoyable game..........well worth a fiver. Left feeling very upbeat, but tomorrow will be a stiffer test.

I bet he was thinking of Aldershot and got mixed up......................I certainly agree with his "it's not a disaster comment" though, a friend of mine is a Northern based Exeter fan and he is actually slightly dissappointed that they have gone back up.  He says he is going to miss lots of things which are only associated with NL football and was never in the 'were only visitors to your league' camp.

Altrincham FC First Team / Senior joins AFC Halifax (sort of)
« on: July 15, 2008, 01:38:13 PM »
Don't panic...........this is not our 5 goal hero !

Could not help but take a little look at the Halifax Courier today to see how things are going for them. The paper says that Phil Senior, who it claims (incorrectly) is Chris Senior's brother, has joined Halifax from Northwich Vics.

In fact it's interesting to see that AFC HT seem to be making plenty of signings. The majority of their new players are all from higher placed clubs, so I suspect they will be collecting better than average Unibond 1 wages. Surprising for a new club with no money !
