Altrincham FC First Team / Re: Where will we finish next season?
« on: May 11, 2009, 05:01:15 PM »
Out of the bottom 4, but I still think we will be in for a difficult season.
The so called credit crunch is biting and as can be seen from the main site, players have had to be released to make way for some to come in.
There are other teams who won't have the same spending power as last season eg Ebbsfleet, Salisbury, but there will remain plenty of gamblers, chancers and big spenders in this league.

I will be delighted with another 15-16th place (which is achievable), but anything other than relegation is an achievement for a part-time club on crowds of 1000.

B) He wants to make it easier for champions of medium and small leagues to make it into the Champions League. Spot on. Champions in places like Scotland, Belgium and Poland are more deserving than the team that finished fourth, sometimes 30 points off the pace, in England or Spain. Arsenal clearly feel that finishing above Aston Villa is reason enough to be entered into Europe's premier competition, but real champions should get the chance in my opinion.

It's a tricky one this.............yes I agree, lets give the champion clubs from so called lesser footballing countries a good chance to progress, it is only fair.
But then again why should such a club benefit just from playing in a poor league. For example why should the champions of Malta get to compete with Real Madrid just because they are champions of what would be considered to be a poor league. It's like letting the champions of Cheshire directly into the 4th round of the FA cup ( a great idea !)

I think the current system is fair . The champions of Malta play the champions of the Faroe Islands for the chance to play the champions of Latvia, with the winners playing the champions of Greece for a place in the group games with AC Milan, Chelski, etc

Absolutely no idea..................sometimes though, these 'African' type questions are there to fool us... do we need to think along the lines of someone from Egypt or Tunisia (surely not Dino) for example ?

Cant make it tomorrow as it starts too early :(

Same here.......I am in Kendal until 5.30pm and my car aint fast enough.

I think it's fair to say that the start time will not suit a lot of people, but equally fair is the need to start early to enable the football to be screened. When all said and done the club are trying to make an enjoyable evening of things and raise some cash at the same time.

For those that cannot get to the forum on time, then I guess there is nothing wrong with coming down for a beer and to watch the match, talk about the season, get firsthand news from the forum etc

Just a few reinforcements needed.......not half a squad
If Colin's golden boots start to desert him and he only gets half the goal tally he got this season, then we just need someone who can make up the 9 goal deficit. That person may well already be here (Chris Denham maybe) ?

A really good season in the end.
We now know that we were actually 'safe' after we beat Weymouth at home in mid March.......safe with 10 games still to play !

It's also ironic that we became 'safe' after we beat Weymouth, whereas last season they were the team we played the day we were relegated.

They spent thousands on Julian Joachim and nowt on the ground.

Shame.

Agreed
When will people stop feeling sorry for clubs who gain an advantage by diverting money into their playing budgets when other clubs have to spend it on meeting ground grading rules, floodlight lux levels, income tax and NI contributions etc.

I appreciate that the ground grading rules can be 'an ass', but every team in the same league has to 'meet' them

Dale's goal tally has not been sufficient to warrant much attention from league clubs.

Hopefully he can really improve on this next season in an Alty shirt and help us move a bit higher up the table in the process.  :)

Fully agree.............Dale is certainly a good asset for the club, he does lots of things really well and can (on a good day) cause defences massive problems.
The day he becomes a 10 goal a season striker is the day he leaves for full time league football.....but at the moment he is not the finished article.
Hopefully next season he will improve on this one, help secure us a decent mid table finish and earn himself a contract at Crewe

Cannot see a league team going to Vics ground.

However I work with a County season ticket holder and he told me that Sale Sharks owners charge County £400,000 per year for the use of the ground. He says this is crippling them financially. Does anyone know if this is correct or false ?
He also says that Jim Gannon will walk in the close season and that County are in serious debt ?

James Black..............where have you gone ? Still sitting down on the Golf Road ?

Finally confirmed. We have been relegated due to the fact that Weymouth and York still have to play each other.

You are not relegated !!! FACT...........not yet

I think you will find that mathematically, we are.

My apologies..........did not take into account the York playing Weymouth factor & this prevents Vics escaping the bottom four........it was the excitement still inside me after getting back from our international away win and another season in BSP

York = nearby + great place to go for a day out and footy. Also often have good away support.

Weymouth = robdogs who don't pay their bills + sacked a manager who has working for nowt + almost in France

I know who I want to stay up

Great photo of the kids at Moss Lane - happy faces.......some are even smaller than the Cheshire Senior Cup (if it were on its stand) !

Fair play to the staff who gave up their time for this
