it's against Halifax in the FA Cup 2nd Round, downside is we lose 3-0 and miss a penaulty (start of second video). but thought it would be good to share.
and since i was all of a few months old when this was played i thought it funny to see Alty back in the day, oh and this might sound a stupid question but red and black?

I enjoyed watching that but not the result, I haven't seen it before as i was serving in Germany at the time and how the ground has changed.

What was the attendance?
What was all the black plastic about attached to the pitch barriers?

Off the top of my head the attendance was quite high, something like 3,964.

That was great that. I love nostalgic stuff. Some great flying challenges in there, along with some great play by Halifax and Alty.

Johnson, the only ever Alty right back to come off the pitch ,at the end of the match, in the same condition  as he went on at the start, irrespective of the weather.Happy days :) :)

Some tasty challenges went in in those days as the video shows....I wish it was still like that!!

That was brilliant. The challenges in those days were ferocious! There were literally about 10 in that highlight package that were worse than Densmore's red card tackle a few weeks ago, but if the player wasn't hurt he didn't go down. Bring those days back.

Agreed fuertes, marvellous, wasn't it.......

Seriously I was there and remember nothing apart from Stewarts penalty miss. The standard football-wise looks much worse than today though to me.

Barr 42
Stewart missed pen 43
Allison 44

Altho there's been plenty I bet we've rarely had any 5 minute spells before half time that have knocked the stuffing out of us quite as comprehensively as that!

One of my first ever Alty games!

I was stood on the grass bank with my Dad and, despite being only 7 years old at the time, I remember the missed pen like it was yesterday.

Ah yes, Ian Johnson.

The only Alty player I can recall who claimed to be suffering from hypothermia during a match at Moss Lane!

Quality highlights!!

December 10th 1988 if memory serves.I went to see T'Pau at the Apollo that night & that was my last Alty game for five weeks as me & Mrs. Flynn swanned off to Hong Kong & Australia the following Wednesday. We had a bad Christmas & New Year with defeats at home to Maidstone United & away at Chorley, possibly a draw with Macc, but I was back for what may have been our next win at Buxton in the F.A. Trophy (2-0).By then, Ronnie Ellis, John Timons & Mick Farrelly had gone to Macc & we got Nigel Shaw, Keith Mountford & some cash in return....one of the most bizarre bits of transfer business that I have witnessed in thirty seven years following Alty. This was like losing Colin Little, Chris Senior & Robbie Lawton :o

John Motson was staying in the Amblehurst Hotel from about the Wednesday night before the game....a hostelry that I frequented quite a lot in those days....in fact Monday through Friday. He told me about one of his famous commentarial gaffes on air which is not repeatable here...but involved a couple of well known Watford players of that era!

Funniest moment was the Halifax fan being escorted out of the ground....proudly carrying his inflatable Banana ;D (2nd Half, in front of where the Family Stand is now).

Everyone must have noticed the reasonable queues......& complete absence of stoppers at the snack bar......maybe they hadn't been invented by then!

The Lockerbie Air Crash took place about ten days later & my angst at losing was tempered by the knowledge that I would have been about ten thousand miles away for the third round.Obviously if Rod Thornley was around then I would have walked back for it, but this was pre-Rodders!
