Title: 4 at the back
Post by: RocketDan on September 19, 2010, 11:52:40 AM
Are we the only team in the league (or indeed the world) who play with 3 central defenders?

We got away with it when Greg Young was playing, but playing 3 central defenders with no positional awareness or confidence is shocking.

time to go 4 at the back.
densmore  smith  williams  brown

we miss buzz at fullback

While one player shouldn't make a massive difference, I'm absolutely with you on this one !

Worryingly, I don't doubt that..

Joseph got the gig in his natural position of right back yesterday and i saw all i needed to know after 49 seconds, and the keeper should dealt with it, tuesday should be coburn, densmore, smith, welch, williams, brown, hewson, lawton, crowell, little, reeves, or slightly different if denham and clee are fit,we need a experienced left back, and experiened pacey centre back and and striker that can finish, even if its 3 loan signings thats what we need urgently, for starters...

Sampdoria played a very successful 3-5-2 last season. Probably no consolation though...

It's battle of the 3-5-2's tonight at the Luigi Feraris - Samp against Napoli. Our formation seems to be in vogue in Italy at the moment, we could decamp to Serie D or something?

I play 5-3-2 with Alty on FM. But what I saw at Gateshead was 5-2-2-1 which managed to negate most of the good points of '5 at the back' i.e. using the wing-backs to supply width and not needing to rely on a defensive midfielder.
