I'd want to see the ref reports on the pitch.  Was there an inspection this morning, if so what changed between then and the 14:00 postponement?

It's a bloody long old trip up from Bath, all for nothing.

Especially considering the distance

If it was Hyde v Altrincham or a localish fixture then I wouldn't see the problem, but when it's a 5 hour + drive it's not on

It's even worse..........they had an overnight stay and hence players also took Friday off work

They will now have to travel there on a Tuesday which will involve another day off work

I guess, as the |Bath team had gone up the day before. that they decided to try to give the match every chance of going ahead. A Bugger for the fans who made the trip.

Reading Gateshead's site, this is a decent synopsis. Pitch was deemed fit by a local referee on Friday evening, but froze during the night. The match official (obviously aware that Bath had already travelled) gave it as long as possible to thaw out before postponing the game. Can't honestly find fault with that.

Seems logical to me.  Got to hope the Bath fans were made aware of the situation and the planned late inspection.

Gutting to get to a ground to find the game's been postponed.

I guess the best you can hope for is that Bath City FC made the fans aware of the possibility of it being called off late on their website.

Then the 15 or so fans could have made their own minds up to travel or not, knowing that if the game was off they could always spend the day in Newcastle doing civilized museum visiting etc or getting a pissed as a lord.

Sometimes we have to let individuals use a bit common sense and make their own decisions, we go on about the nanny state etc and then want football clubs to guide our every word whilst ignoring the news and weather around us.
