Altrincham FC First Team / Re: RAIN IN SPENNYMOOR BUT THE GAME IS ON
« on: January 16, 2020, 04:08:54 PM »
The players are paid to play for Altrincham and I'm sure they were still paid on Tuesday despite their being no game. So the cost isn't really to the players but the club.

Most will have had to take time off work. Also cost in terms of time that they could have better spent with their families/ doing something else. It is an all round ballache and I would lay the blame at the Spennymoor door.

Watching Reevsies goal against Barnsley over again recently, there were two moments of history in the build up:

- Ryan Crowther made a tackle and then
- Ryan Crowther unleashed an on target shot

From which Damien scored

I was unaware that Crowther had done either thing in his Alty career

Still think we'd of been better of with Lesley

You are very welcome at Fratton Park and we will do our best to make a noise! It may not be a state of the art stadium by modern standards but in terms of traditional stadiums its pretty good.

Most of us don't like the soulless modern stadiums, whatever their facilities may be; I certainly don't and am much happier visiting a traditional ground like yours.

Traveling in hope, not expectation and looking forward to a good day out whatever the result.

I have a friend who lives in Portsmouth and goes to some of the games. He asked me what I thought of our chances and I told him I was going more in hope than expectation as they are after all 3 levels above us, but there is alwaays some hope (however slim).

His response was:

"Always a hope in the cup. Pompey are a bit prone to nerves when they are favoured and struggle at home at times. So you never know."

It should be a good day out whatever happens and I just hope that if we get beat that it isn't a hiding.

Mad Frankie will be getting me a further 2 tickets today (hopefully) for two Pompey locals (but blow ins)...one of whom is a Blackpool fan (I'm sure he has fond memories of playing us in the cup  ;D)

Yep, early start for me on Saturday morning for the drive up to Dublin airport. I missed the Colchester outing, but wasn't going to miss this (even with a glass back).

Can't really add much more (especially the postings of Cult and Management Guru), but what a reliable player, what a team he was an integral part of. Those 1st two season of the APL where we pretty much swept all before us and we expected to win (nearly) every FA Cup tie we went into. What a time to be alive and an Alty fan...thanks for the memories. RIP

That is a top result.

Just hoping everyone remained fit.

Well done lads. Keep this going and let's get at Portsmouth.

Any reports on this?

No obvious injuries

Excellent news. Thanks.

Good news, cheers Gaz, hopefully encourage so more users back

I was on here, under a different name, for a few years but deleted my access due to the volume of bellendery. I have seen the forum reduce in the number of posts, but what I think is an increase in quality. I got a new account setup the other day. I don't intend to post much at first but who knows?

Thanks.

Wasn't his brother a half decent snooker player?

Flying over for this one. Long time since I have done Chester away. I would also take a draw right now, but am obviously hoping for more.
