Gives the Fanzone a target date to open for.

Strong chance of TV you'd have thought. That or Torquay v Stockport.

We must be odds-on to be on TV.

2 promoted teams & founder members of the league, playing each other on the opening day of the season, 41 years after the league started with a game between the same 2 clubs, 1 of whom went on to become Champions in that inaugural season & the other Runners-Up.
The National League will love that!

If it's not Alty v Weymouth, I suspect that it will be one of the other promoted teams who have attractive looking home games:-
King's Lynn Town v Yeovil Town
Wealdstone v Chesterfield

You'd better pitch that to BT Sport pdq Brian or they'll be going for anything with an ex-league team in it. Torquay v Stockport would be my favourite for opening day telly.

Agreed. As heartwarming and nostalgic as Alty v Weymouth is to us, an old school non league fixture isn't going to stand up against two ex league sides when it comes to telly audiences. Hope I'm wrong!

I have a theory that TV never venture too far North when it comes to choosing non lge televised fixtures ..
I know this league has a strong southern bias to it.

I’m not sure back in the days of Santander they ever punched  WA15 into their Satnav..

BT Sport were pretty decent in their spread of coverage last season to be fair. In their schedule up to around lockdown all of the half dozen or so clubs they hadn't visited were right in the south. Of the clubs they visited more than once, the vast majority were north or Midlands.

They'll be long gone by then.
Hope they get a phoenix club off the ground and, next season, enjoy their derbies with Northwich Victoria, 1874 Northwich and FC Isle of Man in the North West Counties league.
