Did I spot ex Alty 'keeper Mike Pollit amongst the Wigan unused squad members at Wembley today?

We also got mentioned in the FA Cup Final match programme.
Let's not forget that Wigan were never the regular top non-league club and only won the NPL twice (once a present from ourselves) but benefiting in being elected due to other club's grounds not being up to FL standard. In their favour was their ground having a large capacity although it was an awful dump.

Although it seems to miss Graham Barrow!

The majority of the stuff about Alty in that piece comprises Andy Mitten regurgitating material from his 2004 article on Altrincham FC in the magazine FourFourTwo.

There was a piece in the FA Cup Final programme (a mere ten pounds) listing every single FA Cup tie Wigan have ever played as a FL club, as with a pleasing symmetry yesterday's win was Wigans 100th cup tie as a League outfit.

The bit detailing the glorious events of December 1994 tragically referred to 'Moss Road'. We got two mentions as I think we also played them in the cup in the 80s but believe we lost that one.

We lost 2-0 against Wigan Athletic in an FA Cup First Round tie played at Moss Lane on Saturday, 14th November 1987.

The dark days of Tommy Docherty as Alty's manager.

I think that Paul Jewell played for Wigan that day.
