Thought he would have been contracted for the season?, maybe he feels he wont be a regular starter which he would be at Rammy.

If it's true then it's a shame but I'm sure we'll manage. He may have been told he's not going to be a regular starter and decided to try his luck elsewhere the same as Sam Heathcote. He's no spring chicken so probably wants guaranteed first team football in the later stages of his career.

All very strange. His importance for the coming season was being talked about literally days ago. It's a bizarre level of football that we now operate at.

This is what can happen when players arn' t contracted.
I'm sure he would have been in the match day squad, so would have been getting paid unlike some. I suspect he won't be the last to move.
Big dent in our promotion challenge in my view.

The not contracting everyone scenario will work for and against us, I'm not sure we needed to contract a 32 yr old though.
Think we should wait to hear what has happened first, could be so many reasons why he has moved on.

Brownhill also departed - see club website. The way it's being presented is that six players were given the choice of staying to fight for a place in the team or moving on, the Wright & Brownhill elected to move on. There will apparently be an interview with the manager later today.

I'm not too bothered about Brownhill going as Short is a better player by all accounts. I'm a bit disappointed Wright has chosen to leave for the easy life rather than fight for a place but I'm not going to lose any sleep over it. We're a bit short of cover on the left hand side now though.

It was. I think Hulme may be an additional contracted player, but that's speculation. Also, I thought some of the departed players would have been contracted.

How embarrassing after all the fanfare that was made over his signature as well - how tinpot have we become as a club

because we had a big press release of him signing for us saying he was the icing on the cake for the team and a big deal
Then we find out from another club he has gone

Don't see the fuss to be honest, we signed a lot of players at the start of the pre-season. For a change nearly all of them looked like footballers.
Then the manager has seen players in six games and probably 10-12 training sessions. He has now decided the ones he definitely wants and told the others they will need to fight for their place or they can look elsewhere.
Some will do just that, some will stay and fight? Jerome probably has mates who play at Ramsbottom, they will guarantee him x pounds and that he will probably start every week so he has gone for it.
Every signing is trumpeted these days, it's the modern internet way.
Can't see how that can be used to bash "the club"?
