Altrincham FC First Team / Still never fails to amuse me ...
« on: June 29, 2011, 03:49:31 PM »
Went for a job interview today and got on to talking about football and of course Altrincham FC. The interviewer came out with "Oh they were relegated weren't they from the GM Vauxhall Conference" ....

How can someone have knowledge of our relegation but not realise the league has moved on a bit since then ? I didn't say anything as awaiting the response to the interview :o)

The best bit was the interview was for a job at FORD !!!!

Also Boston away when Leroy Chambers was subjected to the abuse was not ideal for atmosphere with fans.

I remember Ashton United away as well as one where players \ management staff did not get on but can't remember the year.. HELP ??

Have to share this comment as always do when this game is mentioned ... I was there as a guest of NTL in the sponsors lounge as they were match sponsors I believe (by the way I nominated George Shepherd as man of the match but was never announced ... he he)

Anyway, When it was kicking off John King came legging it down shouting at what was the previous chairman of B. Auckland (believe he had resigned not long before the game ???) and I was sat behind, too be honest being very scared of John King as he shouted as looked like shouting at me !!! ... Just as he was shouting a lady police officer came through the gate with blood pouring down her face .... John King turned to the ex chairman and said "Have you seen that, its a disgrace..." which is fair enough and then came out with something I will never forget... He pointed at the biggest 'specials; I have ever seen and said I "don't mind them kicking f**k out of them but thats a women" ... The Special coppers looked over and King shouted "Yeah you, you should be in there getting hit not her" ...

An Alty moment that will last forever, almost as good as the "Don't go over there" as though it was appealing :)

oh the FA Trophy overhead kick. I couldnt attend the game and was never sure if this was just a myth to wind me up for not going but alas it is true :)

Leigh is the one that stands out for me ... By a long shot.

Plus the time I was in my dads car after he had picked me up from Moss Lane and as we were sat in traffic outside the ground a certain 'Mad Dog' slammed both hands on the bonnet and shouted towards me ... I laughed and waved .. My Dad just looked shocked and was delighted I knew the mad man (or dog) on the bonnet :) - as I said LEGEND.... I told my dad about coming back up for the Tranmere game and described him as the footballer who did the slam on the bonnet and he remembered him straight away.. ha ha

I like the fact that even though we have a manager on holiday it seems that he has a list of players and still wants to get these players in. The football club hasn't stopped just cos he is not around.

So far what I have read about him is all positive and of someone who looks committed (even if not will be committed by the end of his reign if he listens to us  !!) and knows what its going to take to do a promotion push.

Never forget when we played them not long after and Stu Terry was heckled \ abused like mad and wasn't interested in playing at all after that and drifted out the match.

I sent Mad Dog a text and he replied with what I can only say brought a tear to my eye (both of them in fact) and summed up the bloke to me. So selfless and always thinking about others.

I have booked the room at Guest House Warrington and will be back to see Mark and watch the Alty.

Didn't Leroy Chambers have a big tatoo of a holy cross?, or have I made that up ?

This news has upset me. Mark Maddox is a total legend and hero of mine.

He has always stayed in touch with Altys progress and has always offered to help with anything to do with the fans.

One of the nicest people I have ever met, a gentleman and all round ace person.

I was not going to come back for an friendlies and save my money to try and get to more league games this season but will be doing my utmost to get back for the Tranmere game.

All my very best wishes to Mark and his family.

Kevin Ellison, fast and could strike a ball with some power. Danny McGoona was fast with his one trick and Keith Russell also was a fast player (before he signed properly)

Tony Hemmings ... nuff said.
