Title: Maidenhead Match Thread
Post by: robininstockport on October 07, 2021, 06:19:41 PM
Easier game on paper for a while but they will be no pushovers. Hoping 1 our LB's is available, have seen Hampson doing lots of running before the last couple of home games, so pinning my hopes on him.

                         Thompson

Senior    Mularkey    Hannigan   Hampson

              Moult       Pringle

     Mooney     Kosylo     Colclough

                  Leitch-Smith

Alty 3-1 Maidenhead  (Leitch-Smith, Pringle, Colclough)

Hoping for 1200+ crowd

Can't imagine Hampson will be up to speed after such a long lay-off, wouldn't be surprised to see him head out to the NLN for a month maybe...?

I'm hoping Bunney isn't one of our players that falls off the face of the earth and he's back in contention. I'd also start AJLS and bring Pringle in.

When Joe came of the other game, looked to me like a groin strain, so would guess a few weeks out. Hopefully not to serious.

I would bring Ben back in and use Furman as a backup.

Would like to see Tom get some minutes, maybe on as a sub second half.

Bunney has left due to work commitments...gone to Rylands

Can't see us doing anything other than persisting with Senior on the left and Jackson on the right for now.

I'd also bring Pringle and probably Kosylo back in.

This team if we can.

If no LB fit then Dens RB and Senior LB

Is Fitzpatrick still injured then? If not, surely he must start? Other than that, I agree.

Tempted to start with Dinanga and bring on leitch-Smith about the hour mark though.

Thompson; Densmore, Mullarkey, Hannigan, Senior; Pringle, Moult; Mooney, Dinanga, Leitch-Smith, Colclough.

I honestly believe that, with our wingers in such sparkling form, we don't need a "number 10". I've not been totally convinced by either Kosylo or Hancock up to now, and having another striker to feed off Dinanga's knock downs makes a lot of sense to me.

I disagree - we've started the season well - so why change the system? Doesn't make any sense.

For what it's worth I'd continue with Dinanga (as I'm sure Phil & Sorvs will) with Kosylo at No10. I'd also start with Jackson over Densmore, I'm not sure what Brad has done so terribly wrong so far - but I do remember people being equally as dismissive of Mooney only a few months back. Starting Dens would send out completely the wrong message at this stage in my opinion.

Alty 3 - 1 Maidenhead…1232 Att.

Colclough, Mullarkey and Mooney on the scoresheet.

I would like to see a replacement for Joe Bunney sometime soon.

Onwards & Upwards..

Like others have suggested, I don't think Bunny will be replaced. We've got senior, Jackson, Densmore, Mullarkey, Hannigan and Fitzpatrick available; Hampson isn't that far away from fitness, and we have Sutton, Hall and Digie still on the books.

Would go with the team at the head of this thread and if Connor isn't available, I'd select Dens.

Only didn't mention him because I assumed he would still be unavailable for quite a while. 👍

Agree we shouldn't change the system.

Why would starting Dens put out the wrong message? apparently he was brilliant away at Dagenham. Brad Jackson hasn't been brilliant.

Decent win also crowd of  over 2000 . Thought it might have pushed 1600 but to top 2k is impressive

Thoroughly professional performance from the boys, we played some great stuff against a pretty average Maidenhead side. Really pleased with that.

Over 2,000 in the ground and the pitch looked immaulate.

Very happy tonight.

Another sound performance orchestrated by Mr Pringle in the middle.
Great to see Dens back.
My only concern is whether Dinanga is good enough in this league, he is easily knocked off the ball.

Pringle was by far the best player on the pitch in that first half, perhaps faded in the second but it's great to know we have players of similar quality ready to step in.

Where was Ryan Colclough, by the way?

Flat today.

Not been impressed by Dinanga in the 3 games I've seen.

Pringle remains class.

Jackson much better RW when he came on.

3 points in the bag and my lad's first game.

A decent win, lots of good performances but I thought Dens was superb at RB. Brad Jackson had a good cameo further up the right when he came on too.

Well done Parky and the lads!

I heard that he has tested positive for Covid-19.

Our second consecutive home attendance in excess of 2,000 was a real bonus. It all seems a long way from the days of Mickleover Sports.

That's exactly the sort of game that a decade or so ago we would have lost 1-0 in front of a crowd of circa 1,100.

I echo the sentiments of some of the previous posters that the jury remains out on Dinanga. He was unncessarily petulant when substituted, too.

An impressive cameo comprising some good old-fashioned wing play by Jackson.

If that's the case are we facing another fortnight off? If not, what was the last lot about?

I said exactly the same regarding a 0-1 Defeat infront of 1100, great minds. It’s amazing how people start turning up when you show a bit of willing, give them something to believe in and talk yourselves up a bit rather than be woe is me,we can’t compete and has anyone got a free second hand lawn mower…

Either we were fabulous or Maidenhead were awful - probably a bit of both.

Everyone played well today. Toby was again perfection. Dens was absolutely assured, but a big shout out for young Senior who has shifted seemlessly to the left.

We have a lovely blend of youth and experience in our team and were again a joy to watch in front of in excess of 2000 home fans. Most will be back.

A solid performance all round against a team that wanted to park the bus and only try to score from set pieces. I’m sorry to say this but Tom Peers is better than Dinanga. Dons tin helmet and waits for the brickbats.

Solid conference win. Same as Wealdstone
. Difference between 15th and 8th is beating average sides at home.

I heard that Colclough tested positive but before he had been in contact with anyone else.

I've got to disagree re Dinanga. I thought he was as good as that other centre forward we used to have. OK he didn't score but he put himself about and held up the ball when necessary. Justified his place in my opinion.

Here we go again. It's a pity that stuff like this is threatening to spoil what could be a great season.

Spoke to Andy White yesterday. Recovered after his ankle op only to get another knock in training. Sods law. I though that Tom Peers made a difference when he came on. Full of running and took his goal well. SBL

We stuck to the task yesterday, finally broke them down with due to lack of height, low crosses well met by Matty and Peersy. Thought subs yesterday were excellent, peersy especially made a huge difference, so wanted his goal.

Special mention to Shaun, thought he was superb yesterday, with little match fitness and playing much recently.

Overall, great squad effort.

A very decent player who was rejected by Crystal Palace because of his short stature. He was driving a forklift at the Hoover factory and playing part time in the Isthmian League for Southall when West Ham paid a measly £5K for him. Despite injuries blighting his career, he won 8 England caps and an FA Cup winner's medal, finishing his career at Watford. There aren't many (any ?) at this level to match that level of achievement.

Yes, capped for England......something nobody can ever take away from you.

As you say....not many managers at this level can say this.....Tim Flowers, Didi Hamman.
