I am going to the meeting tonight, who else is going?
-
The manager presumably 😉
-
Given the lack of responses I hope Steve From Sale has plenty of questions lined up...
-
A lot of people will be away, a lot of people will have parked football for the summer and a lot will have lost all enthusiasm after what the last 15 months have seen unravel. I've things to do, if they get done in time I'll probably go, if they don't then so be it. I have little appetite for the season of shame to start already as im still absorbing what we've some how managed to do

Similar. Finding it difficult to get excited about Joe Mswaile's return and the influx of Nantwich Town players. Hopefully they'll be good enough for the tin pot league we are now in.

I will be on the facebook stream, I'm interested to see what is being said and having all the players there is interesting too

For those who can't make it you can watch the live stream: www.facebook.com/altrinchamfc
Footage will be permanently on the page following the stream. Tripod hasn't arrived though so I've got a task keeping my arms still. Cheers.

I trust all season ticket holders will be counted into the attendance figure.

If Joe Mwasile hasn't signed for us why has it been announced he has? Very odd!

Bloody scare tactics......

I think the wifi dipped out after the first ten minutes, but a second stream was quickly established and served its purpose to good effect. Watch it back here: https://www.facebook.com/altrinchamfc/videos/10155417897018894/

Brilliant. Very funny. Especially after four pints in Pi!

Hi all, just returned from the meeting, it went really, really well. I know some of you will say the same was said re Neil Young, but the class of players is totally different this time. Can't say who will be good next season as yet, but all the players are dead keen to get the season started.
The general consensus is to now draw a line under the last two seasons and look forward now. I really liked what Phil had to say about how we play. He did not give much away, but did say we would be playing great football to watch, and I think this was reflected in the squad we have signed up. There look to be some good signings from both above and at our current level. The players were particularly keen afterwards to move amongst us and sit down for a chat. It was fitting that there were only 4-5 players missing from the squad, as the others were away and those that weren't attended tonight's meeting. Really nice bunch of lads and we all said we were fully behind them and looking forward to watching them play. Other than the original members of the squad, watch out for Sefton Gonzalez, he is a big hustling forward that opposing defenders are going to fear. Spoke to several other players, they are all glad to be here and looking forward to the start of the season. Will be worth going to the friendlies to get a look at the players early doors.
Phil and Neil sound like good managers to run the team, they are young and are brimming with ideas with what needs to be done, including intense training and cutting down on injuries. He is also keeping an open mind re the captaincy, but apart from Sean and Jake, said there are many other possibilities.
All in all a great meeting. To those fans who have left supporting the club, I say get yourselves back here sooner rather than later, I think you will be pleasantly surprised. It would be great to see you all back again and don't give up on us just yet. See you all at the first home friendly.
-
Take home points were; Joe mwasile has in fact not signed for us. We're looking at a backup keeper who was in attendance tonight. The new physiotherapy/sports science team is hoping we'll have far fewer injuries and the players and management seem confident of promotion.
The proposed backup keeper is Ryan Neild whom I saw playing for Airbus UK Broughton last season (he conceded four goals, but that was against The New Saints, to be fair). Interesting and surprising, to me at least, to see that Clayton McDonald is still at the club, too.
It was a different sort of evening. Phil Parkinson spoke very well and seems to be a very innovative manager with his efforts to build up team or club spirit with the players and supporters bonding. The proof is what happens when the season actually starts, of course, after one or two such events recently, but, despite that cynicism, I do feel better after this meeting.
-
Phil Parkinson was upbeat and very positive, obviously he needs to be. Good to see the majority of the squad there, I think there will be some comings and goings here, with only 12 of them on a contract. Good move on his part as does not tie up all his budget.
Good to talk to Simon at length, it was eye opening to be able to talk to the players new and old. Good luck to us all this season.
No ball or training commenced but definitely feel more positive than at any time over the last 18 months.
-
The new coach, Chris Parkes, is he the new goalkeeping coach like he was at Nantwich or is a general coach? How was big Clayton looking? Has he lost any weight over the summer?
-
They said Ian was goal keeper coach, pretty sure. I did not chat with Clayton, I guess he has not got a contract and will trial to get in the squad.
-
I hope we give PP the time to get it right and rejig if it doesnt gel immediatly....i am confident he knows what he is doing and will be an excellent long term manager...
-
With regards to steves call for fans to return...it was not the quality of football that kept me away..id turn up however sh*te we are...so i will certainly be cheering pp and the boys away from home and hopefully will return to moss lane when there is a leader at the top i have confidence in...

Well said
-
Well to me from what I read and hear the club is finally on the up on the playing side. Surely the team need support and some, make Moss Lane noisy again and give the new players and management something to urge them on. Boycotting is counterproductive and frankly not what I'd expect true supporters to do. We can hopefully get back on track this season, winning it would be nice but I'm realistic, we have more chance though with fans in Moss Lane than those watching TV or shopping with the wife. Time to stop this now.
-
I hope that Tom Hannigan doesn't suffer another injury whilst he's on his honeymoon.

Shaw Lane won their promotion to this league in front of gates below 200. Your argument doesn't wash with me. A good team will win whether they're watched by 50 or by 50,000.
I'll give them every encouragement away from home though, starting at Whitchurch, Kidsgrove, and Costa del Clwyd.

Absolutely. Yes we know some don't like the current chairman but its time to change the record and get behind the lads on the field wherever they play and show the new management team they have our support.

Groin strain?

Looks like there'll be plenty at away games this season. Looking forward to seeing some new grounds.
-
Ile be giving it another try this season it can only get better I suppose ,and maybe a win or two rather than lose every game I attend

Exactly this. We've been relegated twice in two seasons. A promotion bid from a league we shouldn't even be in, in the first place shouldn't sway everyone back to unquestioning loyalty, Like quite a few others I shall focus on away games and see what happens off the pitch.
-
A sensible question this........what happens to those fans who decide to boycott home games, if we are top of the league? Do you return on the basis the club has been turned around? What happens if we win promotion and are at the top of the league or near it? Do you return?
At what point do you return, is what i am asking if the club is truly turned around under GR?

This is what GR is hoping for. He's hoping that we'll start the season well and everything will be forgotten. Unfortunately too much has gone on under his leadership and a lot of minds won't be changed until he steps aside as chairman.

Yeah - same here. I think Rowley has f**ked us over on this share thing (no new investors from what I hear, and now he has more control - whole thing was fabricated - FFS). But willing to give the new manager a chance. I will cut my cheque for one more year. But if the rumours are true, that he really did screw us..then I am done.

To put that statement right - GR doesnt have those shares - they are now owned within "Treasury" by the club itself, with power bestowed upon the directors (elected by the owners of the club) to sell them as and when they see the right opportunity.
He currently has the same control he had before, if these shares are then issued, and not to him, then he has less control.
-
Of course we will do well this year; it'd be one hell of an 'achievement' to f**k this league up. It changes absolutely nothing - just delays the inevitable struggle moving forward, unless there is real change. I'll be at Whitchurch and Rhyl.

I'll probably succumb if we look good away and promotion is on the cards. But it won't feel 100% right.

The issue is not about results. If people wanted to watch a continually successful team, moss lane would not be the place to do it. The issue is not about Grahame Rowley as a person. The club has been administered like a family business for a long time. This has ultimately seen the club drop two divisions. The club needs clear hard nosed leadership, free from emotion. Not jobs divvied out to friends and decisions made to not upset people. I do not think this has happened on purpose, it is a culture that has grown. This has led to a devide within the club. This will not go away regardless of results until change is seen. For a recent example, the selected volunteers thank you dinner was a great gesture. But some people who have quietly got on with things unpaid and unthanked. In some cases for two decades and more, saw their invites lost in the post. The whole attitude and approach of the club needs to be overhauled. Hopefully new people coming in will see that happen and this attitude change. It is not a personal vendetta from what I understand, despite some of the abuse given out in frustration. This is about the good of the football club.Making it inclusive again, not just for the few that blow smoke up the chairmans behind and those that make a few quid out of it. And as a supporter, the current chairman should see that.
