I am hoping he's taken a knock because i think leather is ok central but very flat footed playing out of position on the left! Glad Nick clee is starting, lets get at them!

Good positive post and even though i whinge a lot its only because i love the club and want  to see us  progress to the conference where we at least belong! Also at times we have played some of the best football I've seen for a long time this season.

Not so much today, but over the season i think he is quitet weak! Good squad player like i have previously said! But his distribution at times is shocking, i just don't feel he reads the game well! Just wants to head the ball rather than think of his position! I think luca is a great defender, just could do with a James smith type defender! Today hall was ok because they were poor but one of his wayward passes set up a good chance for them! Anyhow i am always a bit picky and negative so I'll end by saying that it was a good result and keep the fight up! Hopefully clee gets over his knock soon, big player for us!

For me if you know football well then doughty was man of the match by a distance! We have looked weak with leather and lawrie down the left recently! What a difference with doughty and clee ! I think we need a centre backdesperately ! Hall ain't good enough and we need another striker!Good win boys!

Totally agree, need doughty back to give balance and overlap! Miss clee a lot and need a centre back as hall ain't good enough!

Should have kept Duncan on, put him on the right and taken the tired Sinnott off! Not protecting his son much! Keep going lads!

My opinion is that he should still play if fit! Never harmed other young players! Sinnott is the same age; 18, so he will have to be looked after too! Its an excuse to me! More chance of getting injured having 15-20 mins chasing a result as he won't be fully warmed up expecting to make an instant impact in a high temp game!

Strange theory as we aren't going to sell him when he's not playing! I think its just down to poor management! He thought we'd win without Duncan starting! Unfortunately we need him, i would pay the 13 each week just to watch him play because he gives me the same buzz as playing! Keep finding myself disappointed, if we lose Duncan to another club then we want as much as possible so we need him playing to attract the right price! Would love to see him up front for 3 or 4 games for the whole 90 minutes, honestly think he would destroy centre backs with his runs!

Firstly I thought Brooke had an OK game, not a fan but do not want to come on here and just slag him off each time but at the same time it is goals we need and he will not score many, a Joe O’Neil type of player. Secondly Sinnott needs to realise we must start Duncan, he creates chances, scores and generally is a big concern for the opposition, so even without the ball he can open things up because you will find one or two defenders always drifting towards him. Look at the record this season with Duncan starting and when he hasn’t, says it all. The problem now is that Sinnott is a very good player with an excellent delivery so let’s give Watmore a chance up top which is his natural position. Not many defenders would catch him and I think if he played every game he would not be far behind Reeves on goals tally. Whilst on Reeves, he is a must starter but recently is all round game has dropped and I think it is a confidence issue. I thought young Lacey had a good game, breaking down a lot of their attacks and he is easily criticised, I think he will be a good player as he matures. We need to start picking up 3 points so Sinnott if you read this then start attacking and let’s play our best player in Duncan, he is being wasted. I like Lawrie a lot but seems to have lost a bit of pace but let’s give Duncan a chance up top with balls being thread through. The below team should start the next game, attack attack attack

                                             Coburn

Densmore             Leather   Havern      Doughty

Sinnott             Moult      Rodgers                       Clee

                            Whatmore   Reeves

Good topic, without doubt i would have reeves and watmore stood on the halfway! Bringing everyone back invites necessary pressure! Sinnott isn't great at basic tactics!

1) yeah possibly but i think he might try and protect him 2) yeah i agree about richman but no debate in my eye's between watmore and him. Very easy choice!

Altrincham FC First Team / Changes need to be made
« on: November 28, 2012, 06:59:24 PM »
Need to get a few things off my chest because it has been a while. I have enjoyed this season so far a lot more than I thought I was going to, but changes need to be done sooner rather than later. I see the current squad as
Good enough Coburn, Havern, Densmore, Moult, Rodgers, Clee, Watmore, Lawrie & Reeves
Squad player  Doughty, Richman, Hall, Leather & Lacey
Clear out  Brooke, Mitchley,
I do like Lee Sinnott but for me he makes a lot of tactical errors and needs to get them up for it a bit more. The first half tempo and passion in the first Burton game should be shown in every game.  The big recent tactical error is Duncan Watmore sitting on the bench.  I can not believe I have read that people on here think Watmore is an impact player.  Watmore should start and finish every game if fit, it really is as simple as that, every game he is positive and every game he creates something and he can score. People might read this and say he’s only 18 year’s old and needs rest, nope he doesn’t, we are part time !!! Watmore will recover quicker than most of the players without a doubt. At 18 I played Saturday’s, Sundays, Monday, training Tuesday and Thursday’s and I felt great. In my late 20’s I struggled playing two games just at the weekends.  I personally feel football has changed and that young players aren’t developing like they use to, the saying ‘ he’s only  going to get better and peak in his late 20’s’ doesn’t happen anymore, I can only see Messi and Ronaldo developing into the mid-late 20’s. Watmore is a raw but at the same time mature talent and if I was his manager I would tell him to get at the back four constantly aslong as he does his defensive duties, which he does. We will not have him for years so let’s get the best out of him.
There has been a few debates about the boy Richman. Yes he has developed and can sometimes pick a good pass out but people have got carried away with him. Yes he can run around a lot in the centre mid but often the game passes him. The difference in the FA Cup reply of having Richman in that position rather than Rodgers was huge, they walked through our midfield. I know it could not have been helped as Rodgers was out but when he returns then it needs to be Watmore, Rodgers, Moult and Clee, which is a proven winning midfield this season.
I like Densmore and Doughty but for me we only have one really defensive minded player in Havern, who can read the opposition attack and position himself correctly, I appreciate he has given a couple of pens away. The money from the cup run will be mainly spent on the running of the club not players, people are also getting carried away with this but we need another decent centre back and full back cover. Also we need to get rid of Brooke and Mitchley and sign a decent centre forward in the roll of a Dale Johnson or Seddon. Brooke is crap, MItchley tries and is stronger but still isn’t going to score many, we don’t need two strikers to replace those two as we have other options like Duncan who can go up top if needed, also Clee can play just behind the striker if we become short. That would then leave a space for a box to box midfielder as we need more depth in that position.
My view before last season and certainly this season was play offs minimum so that we can get back in a division where we belong, instead of playing sh*te like Hinckley! To achieve play offs which to me are slipping away means changes need to be done! To end on positive note if even though our defending has been shocking we have had played some decent attacking football which has been exciting to watch at times.
