I thought Grimsby were a big team, surely BBC Lincolnshire should be covering them?
-
Go to BBC radio humberside and listen live
-
Very quiet on here today...commentators talking about million pound houses and the rarity of a sunny day in Manchester (ahem)
-
Assuming this is the match thread in the absence of another? BBC has us at 69% possession?
-
Sh*t 1-0 down
-
Even their commentators are saying it should have been a free kick to Alty before they scored (plain as day they say).....lucked out
-
very quiet today
thailand alty just landed back in ghana to find we go one down the minute i turn the computer on
am i the new SW?

Welch off already, injury?
I don't listen to commentary as a rule.
-
who ever the fan with the loud voice shouting over the commenters is brillant ;D
-
Hi folks.
I presume Joseph went to centre half when Welchy went off or did we go to a 4 man defence?
-
Welch off already, injury?
I don't listen to commentary as a rule.
Commentators beat me to it.....although it wasn't clear from their commentary what the injury was

Yes, injured in the act of shooting according to the commentary.
-
Hi folks.

Againnot clear from their commentary, but apparently Densmore was moved back after being our most likely according to their commentary team who were singing his praises and glad to see the positional change.
-
Commentators seem to be fair in their assessments
-
even off the record their commentators saying we should have had a penalty and it wasnt a goal .
somebody shoot the ref
-
Yep. Matchday updates on main site also agree. Seems everyone except the ref saw a foul on Densmore which should have been a pen for us and a foul on Coates before their goal.
Hopefully KM gave the ref the GH hairdryer treatment on his way off at HT.

JL said this on the substitution:
Welch injured but Cowell comes on in place of him; Joseph to left of back line
So I assume that Crowell is playing in attacking midfield (why not Hewson btw?), Densmore's gone to play right wing-back and Joseph to left centre-back.

70 yards from goal then!

Far too much info JD!
-
Hewson on for Brown. No idea who's going to be playing left wing-back now. I think our only left-footed player on the pitch is Coates.

Well done lads, we are starting to get into our stride!
-
good game by the sound of it Well done Alty
-
well played lads !! kept battlin right to the very end !!!
-
Good result when it doesn't sound like we got the best of the refs decisions.
-
Heads did not go down and we got a point! That is what we will need to stay up!
-
Absolutely delighted that we got the late equaliser. It sounds like another really good effort from the boys to build on Tuesday.
As someone else mentioned, the fact that Denham seems to be hitting form and fitness could be of huge importance.
-
Good to see them fighting back till the end, the stuff we need. Decent gate too, above average so a bit extra in the coffers.
-
Good match that, good atmos & overall 2-2 probably about fair to both sides. 2 excellent goals too -Grimsby's 2nd was a great strike & no keeper would have got near it, Alty's first from Chris Denham was also top notch, a great run and finish.
Nice to see the boys fighting back from going one nil and 2-1 down, credit to Ken McK for getting the boys heads up and encouraging them to the end - it paid off and simply would not have happened 2 weeks ago. Fantastic to see Smithy rampaging up the right wing at the end and putting over a great cross for Shaun to put away - marvellous!
Coates made a couple of excellent saves in the second half and looked solid. He and Denham were particularly outstanding today, but all the boys did well.
-
Sounds like the Ref did us absolutely no favours today either and to come back like that not once but twice to get a point against a big outfit like Grimsby is a fantastic effort.

True, the ref made 2 massive balls ups in the first half - blatant Alty penalty not given and clear foul on Coatesy for Grimsby's first. We had bad luck but fought back very well.

How both the ref and linesman didnt see that foul on Coatesy was beyond belief, the striker barged into him as the ball came down before the ball arrived leaving him on his arse in the net, you couldnt see a more blatant foul, yet Densmore had his legs taken away in their box just after that but the ref waved away the appeals.
This was another really gutsy performance, especially as Welch went off injured in first half and they had to re-organise the defence then and again after HT when hewson came on for Brown and densmore played second half at left wing back,.... versatile player he is. Denham's goal was pure class and he was MOM for sure, really looks a hell of a player at present.
If we keep playing with this spirit we will be OK ;D ;)

Sadly I couldn't go today, but for me this quote sums it up well. Forget the ref, the penalty, the result - a few weeks ago we'd have gone to pieces losing a goal 15 minutes from time. New spirit and new hope for the Alty.
-
This sounds interesting...
"A small section of the visiting fans did not take kindly to the outcome and neither did their captain who refused his Away Man of the Match award in no uncertain terms."
-
not sure if they were kept behind for 5 mins or so after game finished away gate still shut as i left.
-
Great performance today, if we'd have won it would not have been an unfair result.
I thought everyone played well, but the performances of Coates, Smith, Williams, Danylykk, Densmore and Denham were first rate, also I thought when Hewson came on he was composed and inventive, it's invention we are missing and for me he should start.
Great atmosphere and you can really sense the team galvanising, they wanted that today and were running and battling all over the pitch, it was so encouraging to see.
WELL DONE LADS!
-
Fantastic! Whole team picked up where they left off on Tuesday, was a pleasure to watch. And we're scoring goals too!
-

Didn't see their goal but I'm told by someone (who incidentally hates Refs) that Coates just never got up off the ground and, although there was contact it made no difference.
As for the ' Penalty' If we'd conceded a Penalty to a challenge like that there would have been murders done. Shaun went down far too theatrically which will always put doubt in the mind of a Referee.

More than a hissy fit apparently - about ten quids worth in the swear box I believe.
Also I was told by one of the guys coming out of their Directors Box "That's not football" Unfortunately he'd gone before I could ask what it was

You have to remember that Grimsby is on the "wrong" side of the Humber Bridge (OK, I was born in Hull, I'm a tad biased), and they wouldn't know what football was if it came and kicked them in the b*ll*cks. This explains a drop of four divisions since the Millennium.

So sorry Alex and I could not make the game yesterday, we had my father in laws 80th birthday party.
Very glad to hear the result and enjoyed reading all about it this am on this and the Alty site. Superb much improved and keep this up lads and Kenny. Love the coming back twice from a goal down parts.
Well done to all at the club, very happy for the board to give Kenny the job now, seen and heard enough. Alty FC, send the bill for the damage to the toilets etc to Grimsby, if they do not pay it, they lose their honour.
