Well, just 2 weeks till the new season, I assume Parky at some point will field the strongest team he has, give them some minutes in the run up to the first game.
Tough test tomorrow which is what we need. Just picked season tickets up and will be there tomorrow.
-
Time to start best 11.
Don't expect Mullarkey in mid field
-
Best 11 for at least an hour. I don't mind some changes after that, county will provide a test that some trial players may fail. It's make or break time.
-
Byrne
Barrows Mullarkey Baines Brockbank
Lundstram Marriott
Gribbin Con-Clarke Colclough
Hulme
Would like to see this team given some time. With Alex Samizadeh given 45 mins.
-
Respect them but don’t fear them, play the game the way PP wants us to play in two weeks time.
Don’t let’s have another game where we get overrun by them.
Looking forward to seeing the new squad

Suspect it will be this but Gribbin on the left and Jackson on the right.

Osborne is a decent player but I feel with the energy of Marriott and Lundstram we don't need 3 in there so I would defo have a flair player as No.10. Just have a feeling he will fit Osborne in and have Con-Clarke out wide.
Obviously not risk Colclough, but he could do with minutes and has been training....
-
Jackson and Colclough both need to be used carefully because of their fitness problems. Half a game each should suit, and definitely Conn-Clarke in the 10 role.

Not right wing?

Wouldn't have thought so, seems a decent lad

I'm gonna be the one that suggests it'll be Osborne at 10 and Conn-Clarke on the right wing.
One thing Hancock showed us is that playing a forward instead of a midfielder at 10 often left us looking like we were playing a man down, so I'm keen to see our midfield trio playing together in the core of the team.
-
When Osborne has steppes in at 10 he’s moved the ball quite slowly. I’m not sure he’s as dangerous or creative in that advanced role. Better suited to ticking it over in midfield I’d say.

Totally as I see it.
-
Anybody know if Alex Samizadeh is playing, he is a right winger/forward, and looked good at
Trafford

Not a starter, but we have several un-named triallists on the bench
-
Poor call on the penalty spoilt a good work out.
Head and shoulders above us, as they should be.
-
More even second half but hard to tell anything from pre-season when you look at the players they had on the pitch. Seems the pitch side barriers at the away end can withstand a good leaning on.

Seems the pitch side barriers at the away end can withstand a good leaning on.
But I don’t think the ones on the Pop Side can. The lone Alty supporter who deigned to pass a few minutes leaning on them had the full might of the Alty stewards come down on him and he was moved on.
Seems might is right is alive and well at Alty.

They favourites with some bookies

Think that was me.......was politely told it was not allowed. I mentioned it was my belief it will be allowed this season and the steward said that it had not been sorted yet but was ongoing. Hope he is right.
I mentioned the County fans and he said unfortunately there were too many of them to remove from the rail. I accept this, he is doing a difficult job and was apologetic and a nice guy. So no more protest from me. Just hope it is sorted.

I suspect they wouldn't have been too many at Halifax!
Am I right in thinking that the Huddersfield cup match (1990), when it was quite packed on the steep Chequers End terracing, is the only time (at least since 1990) that perimeter fencing has collapsed at ML? And is the current fencing structurally significantly different to the fencing we had previously? And will the current capacity (5,000?) be increased once the fencing issue is sorted?

Déjà vu this afternoon.
County were simply far too good for us (as you would expect) and that match could easily have finished with us conceding four or five goals.
Brockbank experienced a torrid afternoon but, in mitigation, he won't face many wingers who are as talented and swift as Southam-Hales in our league.
I thought that Lundstram was probably our best performer and, on the plus side, Byrne certainly looked the part during the second half. He produced one fine point-blank save from an attempt by Wootton and looks to have a prodigious kick in his left foot.
Alas, none of the trialists managed to make any positive impression whatsoever. I was hoping for so much more from Gribbin throughout that first half but he just never got into the game.
My abiding concern remains exactly where our goals are going to come from. Hulme cut an isolated figure in the opening 45 minutes and we only mustered one shot on target all afternoon - and that was a rather tame effort from Dinanga.
No teamsheet either, which is a poor show.
The highlight was the attendance figure.
-
Overall a good workout, as we all expected Stockport at a different level to us. Thought we grafted, didn't create much and referee was poor especially for the harsh penalty.
Ollie was excellent in goal second half.
I'm concerned over growing list of injuries with Kosi out and Marriott appears to have a groin injury plus Burrows limping with a knee injury. Not good.
-
There were positives - Byrne looks a decent replacement for TT, and Roxburgh is promising. However, I thought Baines was prone to dwell on the ball.
I'd like to see Dinanga as the lone striker, with Hulme as a number 10. But I don't suppose I shall.

I saw that with some amusement. You pleaded your case well.

County had an entire first team's worth of players at a BCD friendly v Stoke U23 yesterday:
Vit Jaros; Sam Minihan; Ash Palmer; Mark Kitching; Elliot Newby; Cody Johnson; Ryan Croasdale; Myles Hippolyte; Connor Jennings; Ollie Crankshaw; Scott Quigley.
I'm sure one or two might be available if we still have the resources to dip into the loan market.
-
I wonder if Jennings Quigley or Newby would be a ailable on loan?
-
Jennings has got a player liaison management job at stocky now I believe.

Christ, I wouldn’t think Scott Quigley was available
-

Isn't that James Jennings, rather than his brother Connor?
-
I wouldn't have thought some of those players would be available (e.g. Crankshaw, Quigley) - Newby will be.
My logic is probably doing 2+2 and getting 5 given the lie of our friendlies, however Newby on loan plus the lad up front from Stoke U23s, Goodwin, would complete our recruitment.
Ah, I've just seen Goodwin joined Torquay a few days ago. Shame.

Massively admire your commitment to banging that Elliot Newby drum ;D

I agree about the lack of a team sheet being frustrating especially as fans haven’t a clue who half the players are. Going FT isnt all about the players. The attention to detail on the administration side & the off field maintainance of the club also needs to be on the ball.
I’ve said it from the start. For this to work it needs to be run like a well oiled machine.

Would Adam Rooney, if we could afford him, be worth a punt? Looks to be without a club after leaving Solihull

Was being paid £4k p/w at Salford and not much less than that at Solihull. Well out of our reach, surely.

Thought as much but to be without a club 12 days before the season, we might be able to offer a short term option.. Straws. Grasping.

He put a tweet out saying 'come and get me'! Must have a bad or no agent
-
Wouldnt surprise me if he went over to the league of Ireland .

Screams out Fylde to me, that does.
I see Danny Elliott ended up going to Boreham Wood - surely they can't have much more of a budget than we do, but I assume they're bankrolled on those attendances...?

That FA Cup run last season would have boosted their bank balance significantly.

Arsenal Ladies and youth use the ground and it earns them a mint, I think…

The owner supplies props to the movie industry, he's wedged I would guess. So bank rolled to a large degree.

On the subject of right wingers, Ben Tollitt is also still available.
Was on trial at Hartlepool, they didn't fancy him and so Oldham are now taking a look at him.
The last winger we picked up from Fylde hasn't done too badly for us...
-
I'd heard from Sky Sports that they have now signed him, last night.
