Is Bill Waterson our new Chairman?
« on: September 16, 2016, 10:28:04 PM »

I've just read the latest news on the website, Bill Waterson on moving forward. Surely these are the comments we should be reading from our Chairman not from the guy who didn't get a place on the Board, even after donating £10000 to the club.

Is this a case of 'damned if you do, damned if you don't'?  Maybe an attempt at some positive PR by the club, and giving a recent benefactor (who has been mentioned on here) a platform to speak on behalf of the club he has donated to?

I have been told tonight that he has indeed taken over as Chairman of the football club

That's interesting news but, if true, not reported again!

I hope you're right Jamie but think you're probably on the wind up.

Maybe it is but surely you find it odd that Bill has written this article for the programme and not the Chairman? If the club wanted a rallying call why not reprint, with his permission, Hughesy's passionate post on here from Wednesday morning?!!

Reading the article, it certainly looks as if Bill has at least joined the board. This can be no bad thing.

Not true (as yet, anyhow).

Let's hope that it happens soon though.

Bill's piece is exactly what our chairman should have said himself.

In fact, it reads as a proposed template for the chairman to adapt/modify/edit and then issue under his own name (either via the club's website or the Robins Review).....but for some bizarre reason, he hasn't.

For example:

"You tell me we need to improve, for example our communication could be better. You have my personal commitment that we will do all we can to improve the situation. We are open to all positive suggestions, so come to the Meet the Manager and Boards session on 28th September and make your voice heard, or drop us a line before then."

Tiny factual detail - didn't I read on the club website some time ago that the Q&A session was September 24th (the Saturday we play Boston - when incidentally I for one am unfortunately not available in the evening). September 28th is the Wednesday following that date & would be an unusual choice of day for a public meeting? Proof reading required, I wonder?
I'll be interested when reading the programme later today to see where Bill's piece appears - there's no evidence in what I've read on the website that it will appear on page 3 (GR's normal slot) so I'm assuming it's additional material rather than replacing anything.

Wouldn't blame GR from standing down if true.

Strange way to put it out there

Sounds to me like he is just a board member writing a piece for the program.

He's certainly written it as more than someone who invested. Great piece of writing and if Bill has been appointed to the board what a great move!

He's right, we're slowly seeing the shoots of recovery coming through at a time when we've never needed it more.

First win of the season today!
